A great printer for photo printing
This is the 3rd photo Epson photo printer that I have purchased and the best one so far. The only minor problem that I have had is when printing 96# post card stock they seem to hang if I put multiple sheets in the feeder, thus I have to feed one at a time.

I am taking time out of my work day to warn you.
I work at a photo lab in Washington and we were early buyers of this model. All I can say is this printer is the most frustrating machine I have used in a long time. The materials are cheap and after 10 months of use it is beginning to fail and fall apart. The front tray is starting to fall out and this is after normal albeit high volume use. The reason the front tray gets used so much is because the back struggles to feed more than one piece of 150 wt. paper. The most frustrating part is that it prints beautiful proofs and photographs. I would love to use this printer but I get nothing but error, paper out, and 'the ink is only half full are you sure you want to print?' messages. It's maddening and I hope epson does something to fix these issues because so far they have only sent us youtube videos on printer operation. Avoid this printer if you can. It's really not worth it for only 10 months of use. We miss our 3880.

Outstanding Printer
It only arrived a couple days ago so this is just a "new" review of the product. I was immediately impressed how well it's protected and it was the easiest printer installation I think I've ever completed. The printing is smooth, quiet and easy to do. I printed one of my digital paintings and I love the brilliance of color.

Ink is too expensive
I went to buy a new P800 to discover it was discontinued for this printer. The P800 took a 80ml ink cartridge, this one takes a 50ml which cost about the same price. Epson makes great printers that do great prints but their business model for these is terrible...charge more for your printers and less for your inks so that so many of these things don't end up in landfills not worth repairing. Really sort of disgusting.

Beyond Frustrating
If you value workflow and efficiency, do not purchase this printer! It is ridiculously slow to load and print, with constant paper load errors and miss-feeds. You have to set your print settings on your computer AND repeat the process on the P900s control panel on every print. My Epson 3800 prints three 16x20" prints to every one the P900 produces. The P900s print quality is outstanding - beautiful - but the frustration of using it makes me wish I would have returned it.

Excellent Print Quality Once You're Worklfow is Established
After a relatively fast and easy setup I had to get through the frustration of wasting ink and paper until I found the best way to consistently get completed prints.
My files are approx. 500mb to 1gb, printing primarily out of Photoshop. I quickly learned that the best way to avoid waste, from mostly connection related/firewall issues, was to print via USB and not WIFI. Also, to speed things up and avoid print failures I duplicated and flattened layered files and saved them as TIFF with LZW compression.
Once I took these steps I had no problems, no waste.
Pairing printer settings on both the printer and on my PC is also a bit of a nuisance.
Overall I'm very happy with the printer and overlooking it's shortcomings because the quality of the prints are spectacular.

Poor quality

Great to start a business
Epson has great customer retention, usually they are helpful on the phone and email. The prints are superior quality as long as you use Photo paper or Epson paper. The 17 wide is nice without having to break the bank but I wish the inks were less expensive. The borderless printing has a bit of trouble being calibrated but I feel this is the case with all printers.

Excellent table top printer with versatility
I am very happy with this printer so far. I was able to get more prints from the starter inks than I thought I'd be able to. I absolutely love not having to switch back and forth between the matte black and photo black as I've had to do in the past with other printers. The design is sleek and the size is perfect for my space. I also purchased the roll adapter and so far it's been great! The big thing is to remember to have patience when printing with thicker fine art paper using the front loader. As long as you double check everything is lined up you should be fine. There is a thick paper option in the settings too so remember to turn that on. I did have some head striking before I turned that on. I've been doing some double sided printing as well and it's been great.

They shouldn't be selling this printer
Paper feeder does not work. Period. I cannot believe they are still selling this. You can only print one piece of paper at a time and sometimes that doesn't even work. Images constantly cut off. I know I am not alone in this experience. I LOVE my p800 and this is such a dissapointing update.

Big improvement over the old 3880
Loads paper smoothly on first attempt, really like the color quality, sleek appearance and takes up less desk space. No issues syncing with Photoshop. So far so good.

Great while it lasted
I've had the P-900 for just over a year. I've barely used it, only replacing a couple of original cartridges (until yesterday).
Out of the blue 5 of the ink cartridges simultaneously became unrecognizable.
Nothing different transpired that would have caused that.
I changed all 5 to new cartridges.
I went online and did everything recommended - remove all cartridges, turn off , turn on, un plug etc. etc. etc.
I called EPSON and they had no suggestion but to drop off unit off for repair in an outlying city.
By repair, I’m guessing that means replacing the motherboard $$.
As it is I feel like throwing this machine off a tall building.
I’ve had this unit just over a year and have barely used it!
Good luck - I hope yours works better than mine.

Wouldn't Buy because of the Ink Cartridge Technology
Epson makes great printers, however why are they building a high end Photo Printer with Ink Cartridges when they have the technology with the EcoTank ink system? I have any older Epson Photo Printer and it's works great once the nozzles are cleaned. Forthunately I purchased extra Ink Cartridges as Epson no longer makes the cartridge for my Model. So when the Ink Runs out on any one of the cartridges the printer will go to scrap.

What a fall from the 3880
Having gone from a Stylus Pro 3880 to this all I can really say is wow, this is not the successor to the 3880.
The build quality is poor. My extending top media tray won't even stay extended on its own and will drop crooked just from the machine operating and my sample prints have streaks of excess ink on the leading edge. Every part of this machine feels flimsy, leaving me with a feeling that I'm working with a printer 1/10th of the price.
I was not expecting something this poor from Epson.

Gorgeous prints from the very first
I'm new to high quality printing and I'm enjoying the experience. There's a learning curve, but with a wonderful printer like the p900 and a little research, the expense and effort are well worth it. Even my very first prints were impressive.

This printer is great!
I have had this printer for 2 years and can absolutely say it rocks. It is a great printer. The only finicky thing is it is difficult to feed multiple sheets but that is a small price to pay for such a great machine.

Pleased with New Epson P900 17” Printer
It was easy to set up and is quiet printing. The print quality is so excellent. I used to have the R2800, predecessor to this model, and always had to switch black inks depending on paper finish. Sometimes the printer didn’t register the ink change. This printer has both types of ink and senses which to use once you select the paper type. No cartridge swapping! I bought it to print my photos, watercolors and pastels for greeting cards. I decided on the 19” printer in case I need to make larger prints for myself or other art friends. The ink is very expensive partly because there are 10 cartridges that give more accurate colors. I think it will be worth it though. Im very pleased.

The Worst Printer Ever Made
I have owned three Epson large format printers and Epson has even paid me to go in to help with product development in the past. I loved the 3880, but it seems since then, quality has been sacrificed for product weight. Professionals do not have time to deal with all the issues this printer has. The first week I used it and it was brand new, I had to do so many nozzle checks and multiple calls to tech support because there were lines through prints. It went through all the ink the printer came with and I had to change the maintenance cartridge before even getting a print that didn't have lines in it. And the paper feeder/holder is useless. It will not stay up and is very flimsy. The worst part is that my husband accidentally thew away the box, so I could not return it or get the rebate. I contacted Epson and they said there was nothing I can do about it. I guess I will be switching to a different company for a printer.

Bad printer
I bought a Sure color P900 and it worked well for a while. When the warranty ran out the ink ports became plugged. The repair man said that it would be a very expensive job to fix the problem because the computers are not easy to work on. He recommended buying a new photo printer. Frustrated.

Great printer
I've had this printer 1.5 years now. The print head hardly ever needs to be cleaned. I have the rear roll option attachment which works very well. Nice job Epson. My only complaint is the prompting about "low inks" when starting a print job (in which have to click continue twice to start the job.)

The Epson P900 is Excellent
I have had a P800 for many years and it has printed many excellent photos. So far it seems that the new P900 exceeds the performance of the P800 in every way. It is a delight to use and the resolution and color are both beyond excellent.

HATE THIS PRINTER
I've had this printer for a couple of years now and I loth it. Absolutely can not stand to print with it. I have a P800 also and it runs circles around the P900. I can hit print for my P800 and P900 at the same time and the P800 spits out 50 prints compared to the 900's mere 5 sheets. Yes you read that right, 5 whole prints in the same amount of time. UGH!!!! And to think this was the upgrade to the P800. I've hated this printed since the day I bought it and ran it for the first time. Waste of money.

P 900 Printer
I've owned an Epson printer from the 2000 and 2200 to the 7900. I had to buy this P900 after my last one died within a year and a half. It took 3 different printers before I received one that worked. Although, looking back it did make a weird noise when loading the paper. A noise that this one doesn't have. I'm glad and relieved, this time, that I received a working printer right from the start. I hope this one last longer than a year.

Sophisticated but a bit temperamental.
The SC-P900 is a temperamental machine that make outstanding prints. Most of the problems I've had with it comes from paper that is not nice and flat. Unfortunately a lot of paper comes right out of the box with curved edges or a curve in general. You MUST have flat paper to keep this printer happy so you must learn how to uncurve it which is usually not too difficult. I also had a couple problems because the rear paper feeder mechanism was not securely snapped in on both sides so watch out for that. I wish the front paper feeder mechanism was more robust. I broke mine just trying to figure out how to use it. Be nice and gentle with it until you figure it out. With the negatives out of the way, the positives are that it makes amazing prints from the top feeder and the front feeder and the roll feeder. I would recommend the printer to those who will appreciate it is a very sophisticated piece of equipment that needs to be treated with respect. For Epson I would recommend that a future design would be a bit more robust even it it means a larger footprint or weight.

Cannot recommend
Terrible printer. Slow. Initial P900 delivered and installed did not work at all. Replacement delivered at that time has now failed within one year. Epson's options to honor their warranty are lousy and place all the burden on the customer. Cannot recommend.

Speedy response to my problem with 2 P900 printers
I've had to return two Epson P9800 printers. Both had mechanical problems.
Cindy was extremely responsive and replaced both. fortunately the latest one is working well.
I appreciated her speedy help with my problems.
