Rated 5 out of 5 by from chromebox g2, i ordered a hp. monitor with an hp chromebox, you would think that hp. arguably the largest home/office products in the pc world would sell compatible units that would have the necessary cables to get you up and running , i had to go to staples to buy a hdmi cable to complete a very simple set up, its not like it was forgotten in the packaging , it is not part of the units ,, so i spent hours hooking up where it would have taken minutes ,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good "appliance" computer I have purchased three Chromebox G2 machines over the last several months, and they are outstanding devices -- so long as you understand what they are, and what they are not. These are not general purpose computers; you will not be able to run Microsoft Office or other PC applications. They don't have a large hard drive, and there it little you can do to expand them. Rather, they are a fairly minimal machine designed to do one thing extremely well: to run the Google Chrome web browser, and Google's associated applications such as Gmail, Google Drive, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics. The Chromebox is relatively bulletproof, especially compared to a PC: no antivirus stuff to buy and maintain, nothing mechanical to fail. Your data is stored on Google's servers, so even if the box dies, your data is safe. And if you go wild and accidentally mess up your settings, chances are that turning the box off and restarting it will get you back on track. It's a very good solution for people who do little more than surf the web, send emails, and keep up with friends on Facebook, and who don't want to deal with the complexities of keeping a PC running. My mother in law loves hers. There is little in the way of documentation accompanying the Chromebox, and it really doesn't need much. The setup process explains itself, and there is plenty of help online. You need to supply your own keyboard and mouse, along with an HDMI monitor and cable. Pretty much any USB keyboard and mouse will work just fine, but don't spend the money to get a keyboard with extended Windows control functions like volume controls: Chrome uses different keys for most functions. For example, in Windows you can refresh your browser page by pressing F5; in Chrome, it's F3. So a basic standard keyboard is your best choice. Networking is easy to set up: it can connect through a hard-wired Ethernet connection, through WiFi, or over Bluetooth. The process is largely automatic. Setting up a printer is not particularly difficult: I've set them up with several HP OfficeJet printers, most recently the 9015. All three machines arrived in perfect shape, and have worked flawlessly ever since. My experience with similar model Chromeboxes gives me every expectation that barring a catastrophic event like a lightning strike, they should last a very long time. For a device as inexpensive as this, the result is an impressively low operating cost. If you are looking for an inexpensive and robust computer for web browsing and functions that can be accomplished by Google Chrome and their applications, this is an excellent solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Review for HP Chromebox G2 I took this out of the box and hooked it up to my remote TV at the lake where I use my hotspot for wifi internet. It works great, I can watch my spectrum TV, HULU, Netflix and also search the web, I also purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse, so I can sit on the couch and surf and control the chromebox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice little box I bought this to replace a windows based desktop unit running windows 7 where microsoft was no longer supporting the operating system. I was looking to get something that was simpler to use, with less system updates that sometimes causes the computer to not work properly. I think this unit will fit that bill. I wanted something that replaced the desktop rather than a chromebook (laptop) as that is how I prefer to use my computer. The form factor is small and very quiet. It has plenty of USB ports for wireless keyboard and mouse as well as flash drives to transfer files. Be aware that any microsoft office type files will not be able to be read on this unless you can find a program to run on this to open them. What I did was to turn all my files that I wanted to keep from my old desktop into adobe acrobat files and then copied them onto a micro sd card so I could keep them locally instead of loading them on the cloud. I bought a 128 GB micro sd card for this and it works perfectly. One thing I wish was different was the location of the sd card slot. It is right next to the power button and if you are not careful you can eject the sd card when you try to turn the power button on. I simply turned the chromebox at a 45 degree angle so I can see the power button better and haven't had trouble since. I have a HP Desktop 3522 that I wanted to pair this with for my printing and scanning. I was able to get the printer set up fairly easily by watching a youtube video. When I tried to set up the scanning I found it would scan but when I tried to save the scan it came back with a server not found issue. It took me a couple of days to work out that HP had stopped their Eprint service for the printer back in 2016 and that is the service I needed to make the scans work. I could get the scanner working if I wanted to upgrade my printer as I have seen youtube video's where they have printers scanning to the chrome books. All in all I am happy with my purchase. Hope this helps anyone who is looking to buy. The chrome operating system is a little different but I am getting used to it. I also have a huge music collection that I wanted to listen to on this. If you are going to use this for your music I highly suggest you put your music on an sd card and then get the VLC app to play your music. It is the only app that I found to work well as a music player.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and fast! Bought the Chromebox G2 and it works great. Very fast, gets the job done. If most of your pc time is on the internet this is all you need.. No windows updates, messing up your stuff. No more windows slowing down your system working your hard drive and memory like a dog. For the few things you need a windows pc for I will keep it around. But this is my go to now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good design and execution I appreciate HP’s design and execution of the Chrome Box G2. With the Intel Celeron processor its plenty capable of surfing the web, managing email and watching YouTube videos. It has a well made durable feel as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Audio spoils it. Works fantastic for the small size. Does everything, except: no audio.
