Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good printer for small office This purchase was a replacement of our previous M283fdw printer. This is really an excellent printer for a small office with several employees using. Our printer is actually shared by 2 small businesses using a shared guest network, which required more set up and installation across numerous devices, and it slows down the functions a bit, but nothing unusual. It's very versatile, plenty fast for our needs, easy scanning, printing and copying. email printing very handy. Quality of printing very good. Just a note of caution, make sure you upload and register the printer onto your main HP account online when setting up, or you will become very frustrated at why it doesn't work when setting up. This printer has a known issue with its power supply "burning out", and that is exactly what happened with our prior model. It cycles on and off dozens of times a day to save energy, but eventually the unit becomes unusuble with all kinds of issues. With this model we have now plugged it into a power strip and it is turned off every afternoon and weekends to prevent cycling. We also purchased an extended warranty. New unit performs flawlessly across all uses, really a breeze I am personally a big fan of HPs software and applications, we make ample use of HP Smart apps, mobile faxing, phone scanning to PDFs, etc. It really is remarkably good software. Overall at the time of this writing, couldn't be more satisfied with the printer and a small amount of support we needed setting up.

HP told me it only works with wifi (it worked fine for 6 months without it) so we set that up and now it still doesn't work and they told me it is incompatible with my Spectrum internet service and it will not work. I'm just out a printer on this one I guess. To the landfill much earlier than expected along with every single HP product I've bought in my life

The HP software is sort of stupid, but after a while I can get what I need done. Toner is stupid expensive ... I only buy HP toner and a full set of toner carts for this printer comes to almost twice the price of the printer.

Unfortunately just because you purchase from HP that does not mean your printer is instant ink eligible. Like this one, I can not sign up for instant ink. Do not buy this printer thinking you automatically get into the instant ink program, because you don't! Very disappointed.

I promptly emailed HP and asked if they had copiers similar to the one that I had. A very nice and Knowledgeable person gave me options. After considering my need to have a printer that could fit on my desk I purchased the laser jet pro MFP 283fdw. The test is history

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failures While Scanning from Document Feeder Overall, my new LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw Printer functions very well. I purchased this new device just 3 weeks ago. My only problem has been with the Scanning capability. When I scan in multiple sheets from the document feeder, the device repeatedly fails to capture the image. Therefore, I am focused to manually lay each sheet on the screen to scan large documents. This takes too much time. HP your products are OK. However, for the $$$ ($854.00) I paid for this device, it should at least function in excellent condition from day ONE!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the BEST! I've used every model out there and just ended taking them back to the store. I was also worried about HP because they also had issues in the past, specially with bloated software being all over the place. This one was different. Hooked it up wirelessly, and started printing in minutes. Was also scanning to a network folder very easily but just going to the jetadmin firmware and setting up a path there. That was easy as heck. If HP stays this this way and keep up the good work maybe I'll switch back to them as my primary. Print out was crisp, sharp, fast and great color!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive Piece of Junk I have repeatedly reset and connected the device to my wifi network. It works for 2 minutes and then none of our computers can find it. Even when I assign a fixed IP address. Also, these printers constantly go to sleep and do not wake automatically. You have to manually power them back on, which defeats the entire purpose of a high end "smart" printer. Also, HP will not accept returns. They only offer to send a refurbished model -- a k a, another piece of junk that someone else did not want. Avoid avoid avoid.

Downloaded driver from HP website and still would not work. Have now hired outside contractor to try to get it to work. This printer is getting very expensive. And HP customer support was either offline or just not responding. Gave up trying. Seems like it would be a nice printer, if it would just work. Wasting a lot of manhours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect and just what I needed Just my take on install if you are going wifi. Just use the screen on the front to join it to your wifi. So far it works great. Color is sharp and clean. Works with Chromebooks! I got tired of cheap home printers always not working or ink drying out. Laser will never do that. Might be expensive, but I have 3 other home " other good brand" printers that are going to the dump. After using similar HPs MFP at work, I know this will run for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer but... I've had the M281 for about a year now and i was very happy with it until HP decided I can no longer use 3rd party ink. Usually, I'm all for OEM parts and used HP ink with my old printer but there's a 700% price difference between the HP toner ($350) to the generic ($50). I think it's ridicules that they charge as much as new printer for the toner so I packed it nicely and bought me a new, Epson printer. I will not support a company that treats its costumers so unfairly.

I am happy with the printing and scanning, but only when the printer decides to be available. The printing is wireless and the wifi network is very solid. But often the printer is offline and I cannot seem to get it going again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality I purchased MFP M283fdw because I really need a quality product when I print Comps for my clients. It needs to be in color and very detailed. I have had 3 HP Printers. My last one I purchased was 7 years ago and it was InkJet. Loved it - always worked and easy set up. This one was very confusing. The quick set up instructions should say that the Scan to Email feature is not automatically installed and the average person will need the help of the technical center. I too was taken to a site wanting to sell me tech services when I already have a warranty and a Care Pack. It took three days to finally get help. The only way to get a phone number to call is to first go through the hp assistant and put in a request. It took the online tech along with my help over an hour to set up the Scan to Email feature on my computer. We had to reconfigure my gmail security etc. Now that it's working - I love it. Should probably be listed under business printers. It is a great product - just don't expect to use it on the first day.

There was never any explanation of the overall procedure and what each piece of software was supposed to do for us. And I never recommend any products to friends or family as that is just too dangerous if they get a bad one.

It’s efficient without being bulky and the wireless features work well with Mac and PC as well as smartphones. I do notice that when I’m on VPN for work that the print jobs don’t run until after I sign off.

I love being able to print from my mobile device. I can also email an item directly to my printer and it prints, the printer has it`s own email address. The printer is a little loud but I think that is to be expected a laser printer. I would highly recommend this product.

Out of box set up was easy and straight forward, with step by step instructions to help (very few steps)! The device itself it is a clean off white with touch screen display. When printing, it is quiet enough to be on a business call right next to it. Printing is quick as well as crisp and clear for both color and black and white. The quality of the product is unmatched, with many features that other products do not have. I have not had any issues with the multiple paper print, scanning, and pictures I have asked of it. Highly recommended for anyone!!

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.I was able to quickly set up the printer using the directions in the enclosed booklet. There was a page with a picture showing the easiest way to remove the printer from the box! I felt that compared to other printers that I have had, this was so much easier to set up and use. Ink was already installed and after the software was downloaded and installed, everything was touch and go`.There was very little to assemble download and install the software, and basically just plug in, and it was ready to use. The touch screen control panel was intuitive. There were QR codes that I could have scanned for more information if needed. Setting up the wireless network connection was easy - similar to finding networks on my smart phone.It prints quickly and quietly. I was also able to print pictures on photo paper and color copies come out sharp and clear. This copies double sided, but only manually from two single sided pages. Wish it was able to automatically copy a double-sided page.My favorite feature is the Web-connected printer. The printer has its own unique email address, that enables me to email a document or picture from another device (including my smart phone) directly to the printer, to be printed later. I was able to personalize the email so that I can remember it. Overall, I love it! A lot of useful functions in this printer that are usually found in much larger models.This is a convenient size for everything that it does scan, copy, print including double-sided, in color an B&W and fax.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent All In One Printer! Unpacking: This is a nice size printer with a little weight to it. Very easy to remove from the packaging by pulling the sides of the box open to remove the printer. The printer is a tad bit heavy therefore I would recommend having assistance placing it in its desired location. Setup: Everything needed to set-up the printer is included in the box: usb cord, phone cord (faxing) and power source. The printer can be hooked up by usb or wifi (wireless). I highly suggest wireless connection therefore you can print from several devices if needed. I connected the printer wirelessly to 2 computers and 2 cell phones. Wireless setup was done very easy by running the network setup wizard on the printer. I literally had the printer setup within a few minutes after inputting my wireless network password. I added the hp smart app to my phone by scanning the qr code provided on the directions in the printer box. Adding the printer software to my laptop was very quick and easy as well. Usability: The printer is equipped with a pull out drawer that holds 4 toner cartridges. Each cartridge can be replaced as needed when empty, the cartridges are very easy to remove and replace. The feeder on top is very handy for scanning or printing documents without lifting the printer lid. The paper return area is a tad bit small if you are printing large printing jobs, however this can be remedied by lifting the lid to allow more space for the paper to return. The display is a very nice size and very easy to read. There are several settings available on the display and easy to navigate through by touching the screen for desired needs. There is a usb plug easily accessible on the front of the printer just under the display screen, this is very nice to have for plugging in a portable usb drive and printing documents and items without the use of a computer. Favorite Feature: I really enjoyed the apps that came loaded with the printer. The apps allow you the option to connect the printer to your google drive or dropbox. This is a very convenient and quick feature that doesn`t require the use of a computer. The app section also offered pre-made calendars, checklist, fax covers and various printable games. My most favorite pre-made items available to print were the graph paper, music paper and notebook paper that came in child, narrow or wide rule.There were two things that concerned me with the printer, they were minor and not enough to change my overall good opinion of the printer. 1. I noticed the printer collected fingerprints and showed slight dirty marks where you may touch on a regular basis. These were easy enough to clean if needed but a shinier finish may eliminate this problem. 2. The cost of the cartridges are slightly high, there are 4 cartridges to replace. However these are toner cartridges and they last much longer than inkjet cartridges. I am still using the starter toners that came with the printer. Overall the printer prints very fast and is very quiet compared to other printers I have used. The printer has scanner, print and fax capabilities. I was able to print some very color intense projects and the printer performed very well. The overall print time was very fast and the colors were very vibrant. The projects came out ready to use and no smearing of the colors. Overall the printer exceeded my quality expectations and I am very pleased with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy but approachable printer I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.The MFPM283fdw by HP has much to like with a few problems tossed in here and there. The device arrived in enough packaging to prevent any damage. However it was a very heavy unit at roughly 45 lbs. Additionally the size of the device required that we clear more space than expected based upon the many other printers we have had over the years. Setup was relatively quick and easy though I must point out that we had a small issue with wireless connectivity to our in our network. In short, it did not work and play well with some of our other printers on the network. I especially liked and continued to use the HP Eprint function after a very quick set up process.Style, looks and physical characteristics of the device are all modern and up to date. Most of the areas of the printer can be accessed with little or no trouble. I was pleased with the fact that this printer did not cause streaks or lines on our documents even in heavy rapid use.The User Interface (UI) is less intuitive than I might like. Many of the commands seem redundant to me. Also I was unable to find ways to lock in some of the standards my office uses on a routine basis.There are several issues with this device that annoyed me but none were so bad that I would not continue to use the device. The on screen finger touch hot buttons are way to small for my comfort. As a result I ended up having to use a pencil to program the device because I was afraid that my big hands would cause an unexpected problem. I personally tried to direct scan from the printer to my laptop. I tried everything that made sense to me to get it to work. Ultimately I contacted technical support whereupon I learned that this printer does NOT have that function. You must use the HP software to perform this function according to the folks at HP. That is a shame and something I recommend for repair.I found the tiny paper tray to be by far the most annoying aspect of this device. I realize that the nature of a desktop printer implies limitations on capacity. However, it seemed like we were placing more paper in the tray far more than any other device in the office.The printer provides high quality output without delays except as I noted above. My overall impression of this device makes it one that I would recommend to friends or family. This is an easy device to purchase and use if you or your staff are less computer literate.

What I do like about the printer is it doesnt have a tray that i need to pull out to make sure the printed pages stay in order. too many times, im printing work from my phone and i completely forget the tray is closed and walk into a room with papers everywhere.The printer is quick, the set up was on the difficult side for me because i couldnt find the claim code and 3 HP agents couldnt help me. i finally just reset the machine and vuala a claim code printed.right now i need to figure out how to scan to an email address. but it seems to be pretty amazing and with working from home now this printer came perfect timing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Real Deal! I have used inkjet technology printers since they came out (and dot matrix before that!). Most of them become useless and expensive quickly. The Canon this replaced became unusable due to jet contamination, even while using their expensive ink exclusively. I decided to forego inkjet and switch to laser. It's a little more expensive, but worth it for sure. For an upper level home printer you cannot beat this unit. Good price, and HP quality of design and manufacture. This thing even sounds solid when it operates. Comes with excellent scanning software and installs easily, and all my homes PC's and tablets are linked wirelessly to it. Fast printing at 600DPI, full spectrum color, photos print out magnificently, and that LaserJet quality and speed! I won't be going back and will stick with Hewlett-Packard, an American powerhouse technology company!

My only disappointments are; it is a manual duplex scan as opposed to automatic duplex like printing and it’s a little noisier then I had anticipated but not a show stopper

I will begin to say that I have used several printers before but This has been the easiest to set up connect to and by far the quickest one to hook up to WiFi it literally took me a a couple of minutes.I can`t even explain the simplicity of this printer it`s just so simple to use but it prints professional grade prints!I print several hundred prints a day and it has been printing daily for the last 10 days and not one time has it jammed up or messed up. I have changed the size color and it works like a charm. The printer is a bit heavy but It`s not like I`m gonna be moving it daily like a laptop so that`s not a problem at all.It Prints bright color prints along with black plain prints.I even went as far as buying a pack of photo paper and I must tell you It is just as good as what they are when I have them professionally printed.For the price of this printer is well worth every penny and its so was to set it adjust settings .The HP smart app is just as amazing it is very easy to use and very simple to send work to your printer. I can`t say enough good things about this printer.

The only issue I encountered when I first printed was that black wording would not print and anything that printed in color was off. It would print like a shadow. I thought the printer was defective but turned out I just had to shake the Ink toners a bit and then printed perfectly. The phone app works great for printing and scanning. It’s easy to navigate. The Printer has its own email address which you can email to and automatically prints what’s emailed. However It only seems to work some of the time.

I got tired of putting $200 toner cartridges in it and found $80 all four pack on Amazon, well the quality was so poor I had to replace with this same MFP and it does do the duplexing and it's nice having the vibrant colors of HP toner! Just wish it weren't so expensive and wish the life were longer than 5 years. Love the products though.

Setting up the printer was incredibly hard and frustrating. It took me about 5 hours total. The instructions were not clear and very confusing. I had to watch multiple videos online on the HP support page. The hardest part was connecting it online. I was ready to give up at one point.Compared to other printers I`ve had in the past, this was the hardest to set up. I would not recommend it for this reason. However, I do like that it is a wireless printer.Once I`ve finally set it up, it has been printing well and fast. Although I still am struggling to understand how to send print jobs from my phone (android).I would suggest improving the setting up process and having clear instructions. Overall, I`d rate this printer a 7 out of 10.

My favorite feature is the scan feature it scanned very clearly and quite fast. I also used the wireless web connection the instructions wete very easy to understand and the printer connected to my wireless roueter easily. I took the printer straight out the box attached the power plug and was all set to connect wireless. I absolutley love the Hp brand it very reliable and last along time. My overall impression of this printer is Magnificent.

Getting an HP printer was never a question. Choosing which one was the challenge as there were so many to choose from. But I settled on this one because the email feature was not something I really needed. Print/Copy/Scan/Fax all features necessary for work. It also prints in black & white and color and it does print fast. The toner is expensive, but it’s a laser printer the quality is great and the toner lasts a long time. Longer than the ink I used in my older printer. If you’re looking for a printer that’s easy to set up, small enough to fit in a corner and not take up too much space, not too heavy, and great quality printing, then this is a good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Set up and learning is frustrating Once you learn how to use an HP MFP, it's great. But HP makes it hard to get to that point. The first problem is caused by the excessively long and complex naming system and further confused by not being clear about which "series" the device is a part of. I look for MFP M283 and different numbers come up. In setting up wireless, I the Reference Guide doesn't say I'd be directed to the Apple Ap Store, so I thought it wasn't right, just another upsale. I had a hard time locating the user guide for the M283. Turns out it's over 150 pages. I thought the M283 could copy a two-sided document automatically, when prompted. Couldn't get it to, but page the index of the User Guide says there are directions on page 51 for doing so. I'll check that out. I was hoping, but now assume otherwise, that the M283 can do two-sided scanning automatically. I like HP products, they work flawlessly (even though the toner cartridges are very, very expensive); this is my third HP MFP, but you need to devote more attention to providing clear and more thorough directions for getting started.

The user interface is very intuitive and easy for a beginner like myself to handle. Web printing:It took me a few minutes to get the printer connected to the network but once i had it it worked flawlessly. I can now send documents to an email address from anywhere for printing on the printer. Wireless printing is also seemlessPrintingQuality of the prints is great. I have printed many documents both in color and black and white and they both look great. OverallI am very happy with my purchase, quality of prints is great and set up is a breeze.

This HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw is a heavy duty printer in a small package! Easy set up and connectivity to wireless internet. Scans and double sided printing are effective and efficient. Quick print time. This easily sits on my 4.5 foot wide desk off to the side and still gives me room for my desktop. Printing from my smartphone through app is also seamless. This is a great addition to my at home workspace. Highly recommend. FYI it is very heavy box that is delivered with the protective packaging so may be difficult for some to move in packaging.

We print 200-300 pages daily and this model prints all my projects fast with top notch quality. The machine is so quite and fast that it was shocking to me. The ink lasts and lasts and is easy to change when the time comes. The printer required no assembly and only took 15 minutes to set up. I downloaded the HP APP on my smartphone and can control all operations from any remote location. I like being able to send in large print jobs from my phone and have them ready when i get to the office. The print quality is excellent and is "photo quality" if you have the right page paper and setting correct in the control center. The touchscreen control panel is large enough to see what i am doing when i am working the different setting. The only thing you should consider before buying this printer is its size and weight. Check the demensions before you buy to make sure it will fit your desired location. Its also failry heavy so don`t count on moving it around to much. I had to have help lifting the box off the porch and onto the desk when it arrive at my office. Overall it is a highly competent printer with the brains and performance to make your office work flow at a very fast rate and make your documents look great!

There were no issues at all with WIFI set up and everything worked properly from the first time.The little touch screen display was easy to see and use.There was no loud noise (not whisper quiet but not loud clunking either)when turning on the machine and while printing or copying.The print quality is very good with the color quality excellent. The printing speed is nice, nothing zippy quick nor terribly slow except for very large pdf color files that were quite slow in printing duplex on wireless connection.I was also disappointed that scanning is single sided which can make double sided scanning a pain. However documents were straight when scanning both from the glass and the feeder.Copying also gave excellent quality.In summary a great printer with consistent performance yielding excellent crisp and colorful documents every time.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE AN HP PRODUCT. Until it died I was very happy with it. I never had to replace the toner cartridges, that is the short time I had it and used it. HP will do nothing to help, won't even listen because they say it is out of warranty. I can't even get a real person on the phone. I am very disappointed.

I continue with HP because its familiar and I appreciate having one login to access various printers at different locations. Unfortunately this printer has been a disappointment. It is VERY slow to print. I send something to the printer it is several minutes before it starts printing. This is very embarassing when meeting with a client and you need to print documents for signature. The print quality is decent when it finally decides to print.

After 6 months, it died -would not turn on. Paid a company to try to fix and they were not able to. After about 20 emails and numerous calls, we got support to cover the warranty and send us a new machine. Now, less than 2 months later it died too. Now looking at reliable equipment, such as Brother. Can't figure out why HP would make a wireless printer and it does offline continually. Go to amazon and office supply sites and you will see the same complaints. Junk all the way. Almost forgot, I emailed support to let them know the 2nd printer died and never received a response.

It got a bit worse after the warranty was up and today it is 1-3/4 years old and I was told by an HP technician that the wifi will no longer work. We have to use it hard wired. The HP printer we had prior to this was a delight, but this has been a headache.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BAD DRIVER CODE. Not compatible with menu app. The current drivers for this printer may not work on your computer. Its likely very rare, but be warned, it happened to me. I run a menu application which replaces Windows lost SysTray functionality. The HP drivers for my HP ColorLaser Jet Pro M252 work perfectly. Indeed, the printer driver should have nothing to do with the menu application. The HP driver for this new ColorLaser Jet Pro M283dfw did not function. It would not install without various failures reported. The HP ScanDoctor program made the driver work, but erased the menu application which is crutial to productivity patching lost features in Microsoft Windows. Reloading the menu application causes the M283dfw to stop working. But the ColorLaser M252 drivers have no such problem. The work-around is I had to set up a dedicated computer without the menu application just for the M283dfw and print to that over the network. In the hopes that HP will fix this, the menu program is BullZip Express Menu, current version 4.0.6405.28375. I tried an older version which I had archived and the HP driver had the same problem. This menu program is to compensate for the Windows 7 [Ultimate 64 bit] elimination of the SysTray feature which meant you can only add shortcuts to the desktop which becomes covered up and inaccessible while working. I am very disappointed in HP and if I had it to do over again I would NOT purchase this printer but rather try my luck with the M255 in the hopes that driver would not have the same problem. And again, my M252 has never had a problem. I guess whoever wrote the driver modified DLLs and destroyed their system compatibility. Again, if I had it to do over again I would definately NOT purchase the HP ColorLaser Jet Pro M283dfw.

After trying two of these printers I find that this is a common problem, and up to 2.5 degree tilts are acceptable to HP manufacturing. The scans just aren't acceptable. They're setting their standards pretty low, disappointing for a company this known. The printer's ok if that all your looking for.

However, there were a few that gave me concern, particularly in the printing of color photos, since I do use this feature quite often. But I thought I'd take a chance and see what happened. After all, I could just get my photo prints from Walgreen's. I just hooked up the printer and printed a photo just to see how it came out. And I have to say, I am very pleased with the quality and clarity. Sor the price, it appears this is going to be a very good printer for me.

It took almost 3 weeks for HP to get me a replacement, 2 days later the exact same issue has happened. I have seen a few posts on line with the same issue. I have been trying to reach my customer care rep for days, and not a word. Can't wait until it is out of warranty and I can throw it and my faith in HP away forever.

Printing is quick and sharp. Toners look very easy to change. Just one weird thing I did not quickly discover - the "other" paper tray is the single sheet loader in the front of the unit. Who woulda thunk it?

When we called tech support, they suggested we buy a kit to run through the printer. This printer probably only has 200 prints on it as we still have not ran out of the original ream we put in it. Should not have to buy something to clean up the printer 2 months after buying! It's not like we bought a cheap inkjet.

The numbers are very small that I use a stylus and then some of the numbers I have to press 2-3 times just to get the number to come up. I still have not been able to get the scan part to work how I would like. Something I will keep working on will probably have to contact customer service for their help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Hardware, Frustrating Sofrware The printer setup on Win 10 Pro 64 bit was very frustrating as HP does not provide a CD and there are a number of choices for downloading software, rendering the process confusing from the start. Once installed and running, the printer and copy function worked well as would be expected from HP and printer output is very good. A number of network issues were encountered, however, which hampered the the scanning function over the network. I was finally able to get the “Scan to Network Folder” to work after making changes to the anti virus software to allow the appropriate IP addresses through the firewall. However the Scan to Computer function would not work properly, would not operate the auto document feeder and would only scan a page at a time from the scanner bed. I discovered that each time a print to computer request was made from the printer console, a window appeared on the computer stating a request was received from a WSD device and requesting an action to take. On a different network computer this window never appeared and the scan request timed out with no way to prevent it. I found no information in the manual that discussed WSD devices and could not find a way to disable WSD. I did not find any information at all on using the Scan to Computer option in the users guide. Therefore the Scan to Computer function is essentially useless. At best, without automating the process, it requires that one make the request from the printer console and then go to the computer and acknowledge the request and assign an action. The Scan to Network folder option does operate in a fully automated manner and does operate the ADF, making this even more confusing and frustrating as it would appear they are both similar functions. This experience has essentially confirmed a common perception, that being that HP continues to build superior hardware but marginal software and support continue to hamper the use of those products. I have owned HP products for many many years and reall want to like this printer but this experience is making that very difficult.

Super frustrating. We just ran out of the starter toner and it's impossible to find any replacement toner and the cost of the toner is over $400! DO NOT BUY! We are now forced to purchase an instant ink printer just to print simple documents!

Printed out an extra instruction manual when we first set it up to test the quality of the printer, and the printed second set of instructions came out better then the original set of instructions that came with the printer. Would recommend this professional grade HP Printer for any small home business! No one that needs a huge office professional HP that takes up space and needs hundreds of pages printed daily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too many issues in 3 months Too many issues in a short time I purchased this brand new and within 6 weeks and using it twice the touch screen went out and they sent me a refurbished replacement. I wasn't really happy about that but now with the replacement I'm getting an error message that the support person said is a "known issue" and I need to contact an engineer. I'm disappoint as I've heard good things from HP customers. Otherwise, this printer has some really great features when it works.

I am impressed with everything that I can do with this printer. It far exceeds my old printer in terms of everything that can be done with efficiency and practicality. Ever since the first printer I purchased over 30 years ago I have never purchased a printer other than HP. I will never purchase a non HP printer because of the quality, price, and the printing/copying/scanning that are available on the HP printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Set Up I bought this printer middle of April, but just set it up today. Reason for delay is because I'm always nervous when doing my own set up of anything electronic. That said, the set-up was pretty easy with one small hiccup. Printer wouldn't turn on initially, but when I unplugged and plugged back in everything was fine. Instructions were easy to follow and printed my first doc with no issues. Have wanted a home printer for quite some time and believe I'll be very pleased with this one.

We thought we were victim of lack of wireless connectivity, but soon learned that first person in the office in the morning restarts the printer and it seems to wake right up for the day and works flawlessly! Down side might be that it is not a quiet machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I should have known better than to buy an HP This is longer than I meant it to be, but if you are serious about buying this printer, please read my whole review. I've never been a fan of HP products, but when my Epson inkjet printer died in the middle of a large printing job, I needed to get a new printer as quickly as possible so I turned to this HP. It's my work printer, and it lives in a fairly dirty environment, even though I do my best to keep it clean. I had already decided when the Epson died to give laser a try to see if it lasted any longer than the inkjets I've had in the past. I bought it on Amazon, and with Prime shipping, I could get this HP here in one day, with the time crunch I was under it seemed like the best route to go, even though I was wary about the HP brand. I should have just explained to the people who were waiting on me that I was having technical difficulties and got something that shipped slower. My issues are: first and foremost, the software. I was prepared for it to be bad, but if I knew just how bad it was I wouldn't have bought the printer. Of course, HP wants you install their full software suite. I don't want that, I just want the drivers. After hunting around for awhile, I finally found the drivers without the software package. Got those all downloaded and installed, and while my PC would recognize the printer, it wouldn't pick up the scanner. After trying several things unsuccessfully, I decided it was only going to pick up the scanner if I downloaded the full software suite. So I did. This is where my biggest caution comes in. (All caps so you take me seriously here) IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON SCANNING AND DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE TIME TO FIND WORK AROUNDS, DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER. The HP software suite only allows you to scan into their cloud service, not directly to your PC. 100% deal breaker. I already have cloud services that I pay for. I don't need HP's on top of it. I want my scans to go onto my PC, not into any of the cloud services, even the ones I pay for. I sometimes scan sensitive business information, and it's bad enough just saving it on my PC, I sure as hell don't want it on HP's cloud service. At this point I was ready to send the printer back and start over. But, after some more digging, I found another work around by downloading HP's old scanner software called simply HP Scan (alternatively, you can use Window's native scan software, but you don't get as many options). So after about two days of trying to get it to work, I finally was able to resume my large printing job. The box the printer came in said I should get about 1350 pages out of the toner cartridges it came with. That was plenty for me to finish, so I didn't order any more. I printed 130 pages and started to get notifications that I was running low on toner. At first I thought it was a mistake. So I took all the cartridges out, shook them around, and plugged them back in. Nope, not a mistake. I understood that I was printing full color pages, satellite maps to be exact, and I expected that I wouldn't get the full 1350 pages the box promised. But 130? 1200 pages LESS than what the box said? Come on. So I start looking for toner. None to be found. Everywhere is out of stock of yellow, the first color to run low. Ok. I get it. It's COVID times, stock is weird, getting parts and supplies is hard. Trust me, you're preaching to the choir here. So I won't hold it against HP, but I did want to cry at this point. I just threw in the towel and finished the project in greyscale. Whatever. I ordered some toner from our normal ink supplier, which still hasn't shown up. Hopefully I get it soon. What happened today is what prompted me to write this review. I will be totally upfront here, this is probably part of my poor research before I bought this printer. But, it doesn't have auto duplex scanning/copying. Unless I'm missing it somewhere. But, you have to scan all of front pages first, walk over to the printer, flip the stack and scan all of the back pages second. If you're just trying to copy, there is no option for 2 sided to 2 sided. Like. Come on. It's 2021. My 5 year old Epson that I paid $100 for could do that. This is a $500 printer aimed towards small businesses, and yet it can't do something as simple as auto duplex scan/copy. It can auto duplex print, so why can't it when I'm scanning/copying? Print quality is fine, connecting to wifi was simple, it prints fairly quickly. It's loud and bulky, but in my business office, I can deal with those downsides. At home, it would be more of an issue I think. But, all things considered, I really wish I would have listened to my gut and stayed away from HP. If one more thing irritates me about this printer, it's going up for sale on Marketplace, and I'm getting something different. It may go up for sale on Marketplace anyway.

It's extremely easy to use and prints effortlessly from any of my wireless devices (laptop, iPhone, iPad). I also love the scan feature and the ability to scan or copy multiple pages at once. Most of all, the print quality is excellent, as would be expected of a laser printer.

Hp smart is required to use this printer- but my work computer doesn’t allow that app to be installed and there are no drivers found online to install the driver to print even when hardwired. So I can’t even use it to print anything for work which is the main purpose of the purchase. MFP283 doesn’t have drivers but 281 does. I wish there was another way to print with my work computer aside from HP Smart. I used my phone to print a picture on the printer and that seemed easy. But somehow after successful printing the printer seemed to be offline or not on the WiFi connection anymore since the print button wasn’t highlighted. I eventually figured it out, and a bunch of my docs started to print and I pushed the cancel button right on the printer which was handy.

So far, I would give good marks to the print quality, but I have a major issue with the ink. 1. I bought this model with the understanding that it allowed for HP automatic ink supply (meaning that the printer would send a message to distributor when I was running low and I would get ink sent). I now have learned that this is not the situation. Auto ink is NOT an option. 2. I asked HP for a back-up plan and they said you need to order the cartridges on their site. A NO GO. All of the cartridges - I mean every single color - was OUT OF STOCK 3. They said "go and search online for it." Really unhelpful. I had to go to the online stores at AMZ, Staples, Home Depot, etc to piece together each of needed cartridges. And I still couldn't get Magenta. OUT OF STOCKS everywhere. I held HP and its Brand in high regard, until this experience.

Today, when I purchased a new computer after a USB port on my old HP broke a week after the warranty, I now have to register an "account" with HP before I can use the scanner. No option to opt out. It is not enough that HP sells you expensive toner, they now have to track your data. My old Epson worked for over ten years, with much cheaper toner options.

The tech support I chatted with told me that I would have to ship it to them at my expense and that it would then take ten days to get a new one to me and that if the defective one (which they acknowledged was defective) got lost in the mail for whatever reason that they would charge me full price on my card again as “collateral” and the tech couldn’t even spell collateral properly. I’m returning it to Best Buy tomorrow and buying from an honest company that owns its mistakes. I’d give zero stars if I could.

I was tired of the struggles and lower print quality with the typical multi-function home printers. This printer provides the ease of scanning/copying double sided documents that I am used to in 'corporate office' printers. The quality of the output is also much better than my old inkjet. This printer was also very easy to set up. It was connected and printing from my phone within minutes and only a few more minutes to get my work and personal laptops connected. If you need the auto duplex function and want the quality of laser output you can't go wrong with this printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love This Printer I bought this printer to replace an aging HP ink jet multifunction in my office. So far the printer has been great, no problems. Fast printing for what we do, which admittedly is only the occasional document or invoice and from time to time a mailer of around 80 pages. Way faster and cleaner than the older ink jet. The duplex printing is great, saves paper and time by not having to flip the pages over and hope the orientation and order were correct. The auto feeder on the scanner is also a great feature, I just put a stack in and everything gets scanned in, way way faster than one sheet at a time on the old flatbed.

I purchased this about six weeks ago to replace the all in one unit I’ve had for 15 years. it is half the size and less than half the weight of the old one and does everything the old one did and more! wireless printing from my smart phone as a fantastically helpful feature. No more trying to remember that I wanted to print something out later. I just hit print on my phone and whenever I’m ready I can go and collect it from the printer. It is fast and quiet. No problems so far.

I now have to leave one room to go to another room should I need to use a second drawer to hand put in paper one at a time....please I have a small home biz = don't need this running back and forth. 3.It does not print out 8 1/2 x 11 photos. 4. Plus my 8630 printed color pictures were much clearer and sharper in color. 5. Had a paper jam. I opened the back door. The whole paper was there. however the space to pull the paper out was too small I had to tear the paper in order to grab the paper to pull it out. The 8630 had enough space to put hand in and pull out torn paper. This new printer does not have space to reach in and pull any possible bad paper tears. better. ( I do picture albums in large binders)

Images show one color on the monitor, but print a completely different color. Tech support is of no help at all because they are clueless. sat in a chat for over an hour and nothing was resolved. I really wish I could return it.

I called HP and switched to a much better printer the HP color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw. HP credited my account and I had my new printer in less than three days. It works like a dream I love this printer and I recommend it to anyone.

Really frustrating that, even with three assisted calls, with their technicians driving my computers, I can't make it print from my desktop CAD computer, my laptop, and my wife's desktop computer. Added a 4 port hub to hard wire everything because they couldn't get it to work wirelessly. Still can't get everything to communicate.

I have been unable to contact a live person at HP to assist. The support bot is useless to resolve this issue. Someone please give me a number so I can speak to a live person.

If you want to make a copy of something, you can adjust the darkness and then the copies come out nice. It should not be that way as you want the copies of what you are printing from your computer to be clear and crisp!

The printer is a heavy duty machine and uses ink sparingly...all good. However, the "calibration" which suddenly starts up periodically (including in the midst of print jobs) is a problem and several times when using the print button on the LED screen the phrase "print added to que" emerges and nothing happens...when the printer should have just made a copy. I have no idea what this "que" message is all about and I could not find anything on the internet to help me. I hope this flaws can be fixed and a new upgrade software be rolled out. Overall a great printer and I am glad I purchased it.

It's exceptionally fast for printing and for scanning, and the software works as it should (on a Win10 box). Only down side is that sometimes the scanning feeder doesn't feed paper completely straight and you end up with a crooked PDF. But it doesn't happen all of the time. One other thing: I was unable to get the FAX to work through my Comcast router, which has a working phone number. May be something related more to Comcast than HP.

It prints cable-free from one computer; and connected via a cable to another computer. I can adjust settings using the easy-to-understand key pad. It has the largest footprint of any HP printer I've owned in the past, but it fits perfectly in an unused corner of my desk (behind a computer.)

We just bought this printer for home and it basically set itself up. We have no issues printing to it over Wi-Fi from Windows-based computers or iPhones. As a tech guy during the pandemic, I've been doing a lot of support for home users -- the problem is almost always the home Wi-Fi setup. Make sure your home Wi-Fi is solid, before you blame your devices. Also, the default method to install the printer at home for Windows involves WSD; think of this as the "lowest common denominator". You might be better served by setting a static port and specifying other settings -- tech jargon, I know, but see if you can find someone who understands it and can determine if this is better for you. (I have tried other brands of printers, and frankly, have been unimpressed.)

Have not even tried the printer because I don't have a computer to hook it to. I've owned HP computers for the last 30 years. But my laptop died so I ordered a new one. it's taking forever to get here. I totally understand there's a pandemic accept your excuse after excuse about why they can't get parts... But why I promised something if you know you can't get parts or you think you might not be able to get parts. Very unhappy with the whole process almost $2,000 for a computer and printer and having to wait two months to get the computer frustrates me to no end when you could have told me it was going to be 2 months.

The colors seem true; it prints both sides of the paper; the paper comes out without curls. I have not yet used the scan feature, but the fax works as advertised. It is lighter and smaller thanmy old HP Laserjet. I just hope HP continues to support it for several years.

It came ready to work right out of the box. It prints double sided at the touch of a button which saves paper. This printer is also a reliable color copier. I am also sure that it will save me a considerable expense in consumable supplies over the years compared to an inkjet model. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We have a lot of paperwork and copies to make and our Epson Workforce printer stopped working so with a lot of research and help from HP we ordered our color laser printer. It arrived on a Tuesday and I took it in on Weds with our Operations Mgr and we installed it and got it running in less than 30 mins. So far we have had very crisp copies and print jobs. I even printed out the manual so that others that use it if needed they could refer to it and use other features of this printer. I have had a 8600 Pro Inkjet since 2012 that has worked flawlessly since 2012 and made over 45,000 copies so I know HP makes a reliable product.

Now if I send 2 pages to be printed front and back on one sheet of paper it takes 12 minutes for it to finally print. If I send an 8 page document to be printed duplex on 4 pieces of paper it will take 20 to 30 minutes and will only print first 4 pages and then 25 pages with gibberish . Haven't tried fax or copy functions. I would not recommend this printer.

I did have a hiccup in setting up wifi - the printer saw my wifi network but insisted my wifi password was incorrect. So I plugged my little Tp-link RE220 Ac750 Dual Band WiFi Range Extender (about $30 on Amazon) into the outlet behind the printer and connected the printer to that via ethernet, and voila! Perfect. We are an all Mac household btw, and there are no issues connecting & printing, including with iPhones and iPads.

I purchased the laser jet to replace a 9025 printer It broke. Literally. There was a roller rolling around loose in the 9025 and as a result the printer jammed constantly. This was the second 9025 to have this problem within 6 months. Your people couldn’t find the sales receipt (and I do not keep those) so they refused to honor the warranty or to assist me in returning the most recently broken 9025. Terrible experience.

Then spent an hour with HP Tech Support repeating the same steps. HP agreed finally to replace the printer, but then failed to email the return shipping label. So between what is going to be a week to get the label, shipping time, processing time and return shipping time, I will be without this printer for up to three weeks. Thankfully I have a Canon printer so I can print the label when I get it. As for the printer the quality is excellent but it goes through toner fast and toner is expensive!

It allows you to configure ePrint services to send docs to the printer via email. Also allows you to scan to a network folder, USB key or to an email address. If you aren't super tecky you can probably just use the printer with out of the box functionality and it'll work just fine.

No issues so far after nearly 3 years of use. Prints are perfect , colour as well as black only prints. However, two issues. ( 1) The toners are very expensive. Could nearly buy a new printer if all the toners run out at the same time. (2) If you run out of any colour toner, you CANNOT print in black only if you wish, even if there is sufficient black toner in the cartridge. The printer will not allow you to do anything, even scan a copy. Not good at all from HP.

The printer/scanner/fax can duplex printing and copies BUT it cannot duplex scan or duplex fax - despite the duplex unit on the printer. It is possible to manual duplex scans but cannot manual duplex faxes. For even a small office this is not a good printer, especially at its price point. While you can print to legal size paper, you can only scan or fax from, legal size paper from the feeder and not from the glass. This printer is most likely being returned to the store. We did not spend this much to jump through hoops for it to do what our old Brother printer/scanner/fax could do out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rewarding upgrade I have been pleased with my old HP color laserjet (10 years old and still prints like a champ!) but needed a scanner and copier and really wanted wireless so I could put the printer anywhere in the house without connecting an ethernet cord. I stuck with HP and I’m reaping the rewards. It was easy to set up and we are able to print from every device we own. I can scan, copy, and print faster than before. A very satisfying upgrade!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from past date cartridges in new printer I was sold a $700 printer with cartridges that are past their date, so the colors are not accurate. For my part, all my color prints have a pink filter. This means that for those whose colors are important, you have to buy new cartridges at the time of purchase which cost between $112 & $150cad depending on whether you want high yield or not. So plan for that extra in your budget. HP refused to replace my cartridges because they were past the date, despite the fact that they were 80% full, and that my printer is under warranty because they don't replace past date cartridges. From what I understand mine were past their date of purchase. PS: thinking that the problem was with my printer, they replaced it, but it arrived without the original box, I suspect that it was a refurbished one.

You can buy a new printer and sell your old one on eBay and come out ahead. Chips on the cartridges hold you hostage to buying HP. Hp executives need to get it together.

This machine was obviously returned to HP and sent to me. There is a small blemish on and around the power button. The packaging was wrinkled, so I could tell it had been opened and repacked. I did not complain since there is nothing mechanically wrong with the machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BAD PRINTER Our tech guy recommended this printer. We bought it about a year ago & 8 or so months in it quit working & we got the "Error 79" message. I went on the website & got nowhere... finally got an email a few days too late. Couldn't get any help from HP because the warranty had JUST ran out. We had to get our tech to come in & fix it - the cost would have made a nice down payment on a reliable printer... Every day during the busiest time of day, it shuts down due to "Error 79" and we have to keep rerouting to another printer while trying to get it back up & running. It is tremendously frustrating. The printer also makes loud noises that sound as if something is churning inside & we frequently have problems with scanning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Error 79 makes it completely unusable Just like some of the other reviews have stated, this printer started having the ERROR 79 problem and cannot print/copy/scan at all even with all of the trouble shooting techniques suggested on the HP website and forums. We hired a tech to come take a look and he couldn't fix it. Of course this happens just days after the warranty expires and we had barely used it. $550 piece of garbage. Total waste of money.

But, we had to change the toner for the first time today and it is a huge process to remove a chip in the old toner cartridge and place it in the new one. Not the best for a fast moving business if you need to change the toner quickly.

Second, the prints, although of excellent quality, come out darker than what I see on the screen. I mean, I don't expect 100% color matching but also not as dark as they are. The colors are accurate but just the overall image is as if the brightness was really low.

But after a reset and a print setup it seems to be printing good. No more yellowing which is #1 and prints look good. But some of the setup isn't very user friendly....

The copies are very gods though and it pulls even heavy card stock through without issue. The cost of the ink cartridges are ridiculously high. To replace them cost as much as the printer.

The Dell was a terrific, reliable workhorse for many years. I expected the HP to be comparable. I must state at the onset that this HP printer is an excellent value. It was easy to set up; customer service handled whatever issues I encountered with quick efficiency; the printer has thus far performed very well, the control panel is very easy to use. Having said that, I must point out several things: -- The accompanying software does does work in high contrast mode. With my impaired vision, I an unable to read their windows. -- The plastic shell and trays seem to much flimsier that what I was accustomed to. I feel like I need to handle with kid gloves to prevent it from breaking. -- The printer is very noisy. Over the years, I have owned many printers from a variety of manufacturers. This is the noisiest. I can not print if I am taking a phone call. -- Although the printer printed out rapidly, the rime it takes to process my documents and send them to the printer is noticibly longer than with my other printers. Not an issue with single pages, but can take a moment or two for longer documents. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase, but given the issues noted above, I can only give ir 4 stars.

I spent over an hour on the phone with support. Their conclusion was it's a printer issue not a toner issue and since it is no longer under warranty the best they could do is offer me another printer for $400. No thank you. I spent $400 on the printer and $200 on the toner. I now have a $600 paperweight on my desk. This printer is not used a lot and has about 500 pages printed on it. I will NEVER purchase an HP product again. And I am the one who buys printers for my work. I would not recommend HP printers to anyone. I have a Xerox Workcentre 3325 all in one on my desk at work. It has worked flawlessly since 2014.

I fully appreciate not having to manage 3 printers that had the same functionality/capabilities as this one. Prior reviewers have indicated problems with this model as it aged. I will withhold judgement until/if a problem arises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A heavy paperweight that won't print I bought this just over two years ago, so of course the warranty has expired. It worked pretty well at first. It's fast, if a bit loud, as other reviewers noted. But that was fine. The print quality was good and it was fairly reliable. But now, the printer will not print wirelessly using any of my computers -- two macbook pros and an iMac. I keep getting the same message: "Printing -- printer is in use." The printer isn't in use. There is nothing wrong with the hardware. If I want to print, I have to turn off the printer and turn it back on and then it'll print one document before giving me the same message. I've tried everything I can think of. Uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers and HP Smart software. Updating my IOS. Resetting the printer settings. Removing the printer from the computers and reinstalling. Resetting the printer itself. NOTHING. WORKS. There is no support and precious little help online for people in a similar situation. I have a heavy paperweight that cost me about $500. Never again.

Between the WIFI and hard wired printer usage, all works great. I will put in another review after using for a while. Cartridges are pricey but last a heck of a lot longer than ink jet cartridges.

This new printer produces clear scans quickly with a smaller file size. I just finished producing monthly business reports, and the printing is impressively sharp. Great purchase!

It is fast and smooth. Does envelopes the easiest I have ever done them. Not having to deal with ink cartridges is a real plus. No mess and clogged print heads.

Laser is reliable, the model does what is needed, not concerned about performance or quality, just that it prints documents when needed, and scans when needed. Once in a while we need a direct wireless print, and it works.

The setting up was a little dicey and I had to involve HP Support as the drivers would not work, but other than that, it is going to fit my home office needs and I don't have to worry about an ink head drying out and clogging.

We started out decades ago with one of the first B/W printers that ran faithfully for years. Each of our employees has a color laser HP. We honestly feel that you can’t beat them. My only complaint with this latest model is that it has a chip so you can’t use any aftermarket toner. Even though we normally purchase the terribly expensive HPToner, it irritates me that I have no other option should I want to use an aftermarket cartridge on an older printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This printer drives me crazy I bought this to replace a Brother printer I had for years. It has many of the same features. This printer does not do automatic duplex copying, like my old one. This is because the scanner only scans one side at a time, making duplex copying so difficult that I end up just copying the back side and doing single to duplex copying, wasting paper. It will not scan to anything but USB. At the printer it just says it has to be set-up on the computer. But the app tells me it is set up on the computer. However, when I try to scan from the app on the computer, it says the printer has to be set up. I also have to sign into my HP account, which I don't get at all. Both are on my network, why does it need the internet to scan to my computer. It loses the WiFi all the time and has to be rebooted to reconnect, no other way of reconnecting works. When printing 40 three-page duplex reports, it will overheat and have to cool down. About the only thing I like better than the Brother is that the printer is smaller. but it's probably small because the paper tray doesn't fit a whole ream. Next time I won't buy a HP.

Scanning is simple and straightforward. Document feeder is great. This is used by a single office employee. I would not recommend this for a multi-person office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Print Quality on the Color LaserJet Pro MFP I am very unhappy with the quality of printing of my new HP Color LaserJet Pro. Previously I had the HP Color LaserJet CP2025 and absolutely loved the print and accurate color match it produced. Crisp imagery and color are important as I am a self employed designer and rely on quality proofs for my clients. Unfortunately, after years of it being an incredible workhorse of a printer…it died. I spent over an hour online with a rep asking them to recommend a comparable printer and followed their suggestion and purchased the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw. Sadly, it does not come close in print quality to my former HP printer. If print quality matters, do not purchase this model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job This was a replacement for our 12-year old HP laser printer, that sadly could not be repaired (roller issue, print quality remained excellent). This printer does the job but in comparison to the older model is noisy and feels “very plastic”. I have not been able to connect it to my Apple scanning software and therefore the quality of the HP scanner app is sub-standard for the detail often required. If you are looking for a simple LaserJet this will be ok.

I am running 2 separate businesses from this space, and the printer, scanner, copier does what I need and was easy to set up and use within minutes. The only issue I had was setting up my icloud email account to the scanner for "scan to email", but quickly searched and found that I could use a gmail address to do this and it worked. Just be sure to google "how" and use the tips and tricks to get it to work with your gmail. There are a few steps that one wouldn't think of.

That being said, I’ve had 2 catastrophic failures which have required me to exchange the printer once and buy a new one altogether. Seems like a suspicious way to get everyone to subscribe to the extended warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far It's Great Only had this printer for a few days, but so far it works great. It took me 3 color calibrations to get the color to print right. (Maybe the shipping process disturbed some of the toner internally). But after each calibration there was significant improvement and now it prints beautiful color flawlessly. Hopefully it continues to work this way for years to come :).

I owned the previous model, MFP M277dw, which was still providing excellent documents. I left it with the church I retired from so they would have an good quality printer/copier to use. The M283dw is just as good if not better, and I look forward to many years of trouble free service.

HP has a major issue with the wireless printing and this happens on most models I have been using, from 7740 to mfp 227 and envy photo printer I recently purchased. First out of blue does not want to print, I see the printer but its on yellow, in order to make it work have to remove the printer and then add it again. Second for some strange reason randomly decides to not want to print a pdf file. It prints very nice and fast when it wants to print FWY this happens on my 2017 iMac intel on my 2022 14 inch Macbook pro and 2018 13 inch MacBook Pro intel

Some features I really liked are missing from this printer (e.g., manual feed more than one sheet at a time, scanning app is extremely poor, hard to set printer defaults). But it is reliable and so far works well.

I required help from both HP tech support on two different occasions and Dell computer twice before I could get my new printer to work consistently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer Duplex color printing and wireless. We love this printer so far. We upgraded from an older laser black and white to this and we're very happy with our purchase. It's noisier than I anticipated and also the setup is a little confusing at first but once we downloaded the HP Smart to our computer, everything is running smoothly. One issue that I notice is if the printer isn't running for a few days, you have to restart it to get it all to connect properly but now knowing that, it's no biggie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad experience I had a terrible experience with this printer. It would not print clearly when I purchased it. It was incredibly difficult to contact HP for assistance. After many attempts to reach someone by phone, I was only able to engage in a chat format with customer service. After 3 days of jumping through their hoops of tests and proof of poor print quality, they finally agreed to send all new toner cartridges. Days later I received 1 new cartridge. I returned the machine which was difficult for me as it was so heavy. I originally had it delivered. I STILL have NOT received the refund to my card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MOSTLY GOOD, Some Not-So-Good I ordered this printer on Amazon, on sale and was very excited to replace my previous printer with one slightly smaller that really fits in my home office. And I LOVE that it is WHITE!! The printer repair place I took my old one to helped me find this model that they recommended. It is good quality! One thing I don’t like though is that it is quite noisy when working. It is silent while resting (which is great!), but it is kind of loud while warming up and also while printing. Everything else seems to be fine so far. I have not yet printed a lot of colors on it but I am happy so far. Setting up the scanner, connecting it to my computer was a bit tricky, but we figured it out. (I had a tech friend help me set this up, it’s not exactly for the non-tech person). One more thing I like is that the ink toners are not as expensive as my last printer was, especially if you get the XL longer lasting ones. So now — the Not-So-Good — This one is my 2nd one I ordered! The 1st one from Amazon turned out to be defective!! After my friend set it up for me, it looked like everything was working fine, and all of a sudden when I went to scan, the message screen had an error 13 mesage on it. So I did what it said, and it didn’t work! t was frozen. Then the screen went completely blank, all black. Then I tried unplugging, & other things, and then the screen went completely blank, all white! So I called the HP tech help line, and the guy was good. But he concluded that since it was sort of dead, non-responsive, he couldn’t give me any directions on what to do. So he declared it “defective” and sent me a return label, and then offered to order me one right on the phone. That was convenient, but having to send back the first one, and WAIT for the second one, was a real nuisance! I just hope that his one works and lasts! I still recommend this model for home or office!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid printer Prints text well; love the multi-functionality. This is my second HP Laser Jet Pro and I noticed that this version is louder than the previous. It also appears to go to sleep and has trouble waking. Otherwise, I’m very pleased.
