Right out of the box one can just download the software, or install the software and the printer is set-up wireless automatically. I decided to install a USB cable. The printing from a cell phone via WI-FI Direct is almost as good as the higher priced HP InkJet printers on the HP 4x6 paper. The printer prints very fast. The features included in the menu, like Printables, are pretty amazing. I have only had one page that has printed poorly. The higher technology compared to my older InkJets is very apparent. Now, I actually sell HP printers and my associates call this printer, "The Egg," but they can tease me all they want...I love it! I even mount the same picture next to the printer as the higher end printers. When I tell them that this is the best InkJet I have ever owned they apologize for knocking the shape of my printer.

I really like the feature on top where you can put more than one page at a time for copying.It took me about 45 minutes to set it up an get it printing but I am not real savy when it comes to stuff like this so a person that is tech savy it should only take maybe 15 minutes.Also it took a few minutes to figure out the touch screen but once I did it was ok. I got this on sale for 50% off so that was a plus, however I had a HP before and it worked well for about 10 years so wanted to stay with HP.All in all a good printer and I like it so far.

We had a power outage and it was turned off and didn't show as connected to the main computer. I called the Tech Dept. and finally they figured it out for me. I have a WOW computer from HP for Seniors and believe me, we need all the help we can get. I bought a lifetime warranty with this one and I'm glad I did!

I can get it to print a job sent from my computer wireless. I can not get it to scan from my computer no matter how many times I re-download and install the correct software. Great product for simple at home copies or prints. I would suggest the next level up if you plan of doing more then here and there printing. ONLY because it is a little slower but that's about it.

I had found a different HP printer online but when I called HP to place the order the Representative suggested this one that fit my needs and budget, plus it did more then the one I had been considering. This is a wonderful printer, I have used it daily for printing, copying and scanning without out problems and every thing looks great, even my photos. I am ABSOLUTELY now a loyal HP customer.

How about an info pamphlet? I am using an early 2009 MaMini with os 10.11.6 and no support from Apple. Can you please supply a driver to allow me to get color printing from the new 3830? I love HP printers but I need a little help with this one.

It so far works fine, as I've sent several documents to it for black and white printing. I have not yet used it for color. It worked fine as a copier several times so far. I like its small footprint on my desk. And a big plus will be the cost for replacement ink, as my HP printer it replaces had expensive ink cartridges.

Nothing I did would make it print. Then I remembered something one of my sons had told me......so I unplugged the power cord so it could reboot. It worked all 4 times.

I will save you all the trouble I went through. Make sure you have windows 10 and download the HP scan and capture. After that all your settings are within that chrome extension it is a breeze after that.

I got the instant ink 700 page plan and already had them auto send me more ink in the mail. I have been very pleased with the quality and ease of use. I love that I can use the special printer email to send things to be printed to my home printer from anywhere I am at from any device. Easy to set up too. Size is a little on the bigger side, but I knew that and it fit perfect in my space. I love that it does everything I need with ease.

The only drawback is that this printer doesn't automatically print two-sided. It can be done manually, but it is a hassle. I do wish that had been made clear before I bought it. I probably would have gone with another option.

I owned the printer for a year with nothing but problems. HP made good with giving me a $75 coupon and the choice of a new printer. They brought me back to HP and I'm very happy. Only issue I see is that the picture program included with the printer is out of date and won't install. But I have my own program and don't need it. But if they sell a product saying it comes with this feature, it should work. Very happy with the printer and Ink program specials :). Thanks HP... we have all HP products.

The printer guides you through the installation and it is very easy and quick to set it up and have it ready to start printing. I use it for my school work, print and scan. It scans a bunch of paper at the same time and you can also send your work to be printed to the printer's email and get it printed very quick. I do recommend the product.

The copies are crisp and the print speed is just fine. I haven't used the scanner very much as yet, but it seems to work just fine. One reason we have bought HP is because of the cost and the ease of setup. This printer was easy to set up and prints very well. Also just uses two ink cartridges. Time will tell.

It being wireless is the bonus which allows us to print from a smartphone or tablet. We don't print a lot (we're retired) but we have the auto-refill ink service as well. We'll have to see how that goes when the time comes.

The technician was very helpful and tried to repair my printer but in the end I had to purchase a new one. I didn't want to use the HP service for ink and paper. I couldn't use that much of a supply. I do have trouble trying to get the printer to start up right away. It is right next to my lab top which is connected to the printer by a wireless connection. If it would print when I send a command from my lab top and not send me on a long list of commands I could rate it as a #1 unit. I was using a older HP printer and it was a GREAT unit but it became very old and I had to replace it.

Very easy to set up on our wifi, connects without problem to print each time. Quality of prints is very good, even if speed is not the fastest.Integrates beautifully with our iPhones, making it easy to scan directly from the scanner into the iPhone, or to print directly from the iPhone.Instant Ink also easy to set up and pricing seems very reasonable for occasional use.

Wonderful technology. My only problem with HP printers is that they perform well for a few years and than have to be replaced. Hope this one lasts a little longer than the last one!

Set-up was a breeze on line, and the menu on the unit is easy to use as well. I have scanned to my computer, printed from the flatbed and the paper feeds, and printed several things from my computer as well. It's much lighter and easier to handle than my old one, and fits so much better on my computer desk. Pictures come out beautifully as well as printed material.

It is confusing, as to whether I needed to create an account from every device I set the printer up with. The instructions were not clear at all. The printer works well, it isn't a photo printer, but it does well enough with photos. We normally need just a basic home office printer and it works fine. I still am not able to print anything other than photos from my phone, but it's new and I'll figure it eventually.

Scanner allows my wife to convert grandma's recipe cards to her computer and thumb drive. Today I printed 25 crisp, clear, copies of financial spreadsheets for our neighborhood association in just a couple minutes. Our family recommends this all-in-one printer from HP.

It constantly disconnects from the network when wireless printing. I was in the middle of printing a series of 5 page documents, and it disconnected midway through the third document. Due to it's unreliability I have to turn it off and on again to print a document which defeats the purpose of having a wireless printer. This also means I can't print from my phone or tablet via the HP print app.

I guess this is just something hp printers do. I do not know why someone can't make a good, reliable printer. Installation was ok if you know what you are doing. I can not recommend this printer or this company.

I have not figured out how to do wireless printing and had to buy a cable to connect to my computer. It was not easy to figure out which printer cable to buy either. It was easy to set up and connected easily via wi-fi, unlike the Canon, and is much quieter and faster. The print quality is great and the scanner works well. I am very happy with it.

After calling HP support they recommend the 3830 as a replacement for $59.99 so I purchased it. Big difference in printers. The 3830 is much slower at printing, does not print 2 sided unless manually turned and doesn’t offer various paper selections.If I had been offered an alternative replacement it would have been the OfficeJet Pro 6968 for only $30 dollars more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printerI would have given this printer a 5 star review, but it has one fault that annoys me: It prints my multiple sheets front to back and the printing order cannot be changed in the printer settings. I'm using a Chromebook and use a cloud printer program. Otherwise, I'm very happy with this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Customer service is almost non-existant.My previous HP Printer (6600) died on me right in the middle of a major project. It would have cost more money it try and get it fixed, so I just bought a brand new HP printer (3830). I really had no time to learn all of its bells & whistles. When I tried to call in with questions about the online ink supplies, nobody would help me. Nobody would even try and explain anything. This was ridiculous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printing is easy; scanning not so muchI'm still learning how to set up and use this all-in-one printer. I found the print set up to be easy and intuitive. But, I can't say the same for the scanner as I've spent way too much time installing and uninstalling drivers and trying to set it up. I don't think scanning is fully working the way it should, but at least I've figured out one way to scan. The online helps for this are worthless and only take me in circles.
