Rated 5 out of 5 by from The P53s are fantastic, but not perfect. The Lenovo P53s surprised me positively by its dimensions. I expected a more robust and heavy machine, but on the contrary, its size is adequate and the weight is in line with what it offers. It even seemed light. One however is in charge of limiting HDMI ports. I use 3 monitors, so I bought an adapter for USB3 to HDMI, however when I try to use the adapter the HDMI port stops working. So I have to use the VGA adapter that comes with an HDMI and I don't use the HDMI port on the P53s which, in my case, was left unused.

Booting is instantaneous, the display is bright and colorful, and it’s so nice to finally have a full keyboard with such a pleasant feel. The exterior appears professional and high-end, but the laptop is lightweight and not bulky at all. I’m so pleased I can’t list everything I like about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for in a new laptop Similar feel, computing power and sturdiness to my old W-540 with some serious improvements in certain components (such as the touch pad with buttons and a slimmer, lighter model for easy transportation. The battery life is also fantastic by comparison. Not cheap, but it suits my needs very well, and it is not easy to find another computer comparable to this in size/weight as well as overall quality. I have not had it for long yet, but based on past experience with Lenovo I expect a long lifetime and plenty of opportunity to enjoy the good qualities of my new P53s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's The Keypad! There's a lot one could say about the Think Pad P 53 s (15) Mobile Workstation--it's versatility, it's speed, it's silence. But, for my money, the feature that grabbed my attention immediately--and continues to grab it each time I begin typing--is the keyboard. I'm a two-finger typist, but, even for someone like me, the keyboard is effortless, instantly so. The keys have a wonderful feel and spring to them, and my palms rest easily and comfortably behind them, so that my fingers have easy accessed to the whole keyboard. I should also add a word about Lenovo sales and customer service--and that word is terrific. Great purchase, highly recommended!

I bought the Lenovo P53s Thinkpad, customized with an I7 processor, high def 15.5 inch IPS display (3840 x 2160), 16GB memory, 512GB SSD with Windows 10 PRO. I've only had it up and running for 1 week so far, but I am very pleased. Set up and initial startup went very smoothly, and the machine performs very well as expected. It boots up in virtually a few seconds, and is very fast in accessing and running multiple applications simultaneously. The backlit keyboard makes typing much easier. This is my third consecutive Lenovo Thinkpad over a period of 18 years, and , as usual, Lenovo does not disappoint.

I was able to install Linux mint 19.2 in dual boot without any problem and so far it worked perfectly for every program that I used, which includes FEM simulations with COMSOL Multiphysics, Spotify, Skype, Slack... Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because sometimes the noise of the fan bothers me a little (I'm used to my previous computer which was bigger and less powerful, thus really silent).

Love the performance, battery life and light weight. Do not like swapped ctrl-fn keys, but there is a bios setting to reverse it. Disappointed the drive activity led is also missing. It can help a lot in understanding system behavior. Overall very happy with the system.

Under regular 60 watt non LED lighting, images have a blue and purple tint. I contacted Lenovo and they sent me a new unit, but the same problem occurred. I have needed to add an external webcam to remedy the problem. This is a big issue for someone who works from home and does many video meetings.

Did not think I would like the matte screen but it still looks good with the uhd screen. Heat vents are placed in good spots on the body and has good cooling power for a laptop.

The highest processor they had to offer at the time. 16 DDR4 internal RAM along with the 512SSD. I am completely happy with the P53s. I love the size. The P53 looked so big and bulky. I need the combination of portability but the larger keyboard for data entry. This seemed like the perfect fit. Let me tell you I agonized over my choice. It took 6 weeks to get to me so I second guessed myself the whole time. In the end, I am glad I waited. My setup at the office is ultra dock port along with a dual display with the business pro wireless keyboard and mouse from Lenovo. I can’t believe the responsiveness of this unit. Most days this is what I am running all at the same time. Windows Pro with Excel, Word, messaging app called GLIP, Web based EMR along with a separate PM management system, Adobe Pro DC, QuickBooks, iTunes, and of course I use Google Chrome, and Firefox. This computer runs all that, seamlessly and without apparent stress. The fan kicks on but I cannot hear it. The units heats up but nothing crazy. Taking it home is a breeze it ways about 3.5lbs. The onboard laptop and 10key are super easy and for what I wanted to be able to do at home it’s spot on. Powerful enough for Production with ease of Portability. I highly recommend the P53s.

I use it for work running large spreadsheets, there is no problems have multiple big sheets open at once. The fingerprint scanner works well for quick login. The screen is nice clarity and the antiglar works quite well. The wifi chip is strong in the laptop as well. Overall, very satisfied work the whole laptop.

Many of the new models don't have mechanical docks and that was an important feature. Size is good; big screen but slim. Will be interesting to see how USB-C charger works for the user.

A bit more spendy compared to some of its counterparts, like the Dells, which seem to have mighty processors for the money, but are built soooo poorly that i knew i could never buy a Dell again. I love using this computer. its a joy. I am an accountant and have a thousand things open at a time, and this machine keeps up. Did i mention i love this computer?

I added a touchscreen to mine and it is very intuitive, perfect for adding side comments to my lecture notes and nice to use when just leisurely browsing the web. The keyboard is also very solid. It does a good job making the keys very firm, not too hard to press, but also very defined so that I'm not accidentally pressing on nearby keys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional UHD non-glare screen I've had the laptop about a month now, and am delighted with its performance. I chose it in part for its anti-glare UHD (3840X1260) screen. I use it mostly for writing, and the antiglare feature allows me to work in a variety of conditions and situations. Most matte screens are low-res and underwhelming, while this one is terrific. I just graduated from a ThinkPad L450, and I find the keyboard similarly good to work with because of the contoured keys and good feel. I like the number pad on the P533s as well. It's as fast as I expected, and setup was very easy. Battery life seems very good so far. The only criticism I have is that it tends to run a bit hot when doing even routine tasks , which is an issue for me as I actually work with the computer on my lap (imagine that) and on a few of these hot July days it was a bit uncomfortable. I adjusted the screen as instructed, but that didn't make much difference. However, it doesn't always happen, so there may have been some background activity I wasn't aware of. Overall, i'm delighted with the laptop. It's light and compact, works great, and the screen is truly special.

There were certain specs I wanted and certain ones that were nice, but not needed. This laptop fit the bill for specs/price point. The only downside so far is the battery life. I was used to an external battery that could be replaced and was large, to one that is internal and smaller (and lighter. Other than that I've been very happy with it so far.

Right out the box I had to hardboot over and over again just to get windows to boot properly. Now I have to hardboot over and over again and even if I do get Windows to boot up it freezes within a minute. I have been working on this thing all day and can’t get it to boot properly.

As a programmer im able to run all my scripts with no problem. My favorite part about the computer is actually the keyboard. the keys are elevated and have this grove to them that makes the experience very satisfying. I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P53s is a portable powerhouse that just works... Having used T series ThinkPad's at work for about 12 years now, it's what I'm used to. The T580 or T590 was my original choice since those are the latest versions available and I wanted a personal machine that I was already very comfortable with. However, the P53s (at the time I was looking) had better specs and a similar price point so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I went from a T560 with a dual-core i5, 4GB of RA, and a spinning disk to a P53s with an i7 quad-core, 8gb ram, and an SSD which makes all the difference in the world. If you compared my T560 with my new P53s, you'd think there was 25 years between them. The P53s is a powerhouse, it's lighter, and stays pretty cool. It works flawlessly with my third-party USB docking station for dual screens and everything just works. I'm a techie, but for a daily use laptop, I just want it to do what I tell it do, and do it quickly without having to tinker or spend hours on Google researching why some weird think is occurring on my brand new laptop. Lenovo delivers. Do not hesitate to purchase this machine!

I love the weight and the feeling of the chassis. material is very firm and the fan is very silent. keyboard is great too. Computer is quite faster. If I would say improvement, here is the list: 1. power button needs to be firmer. it looks it is too cheaply made; 2. touch pad needs to be bigger. somehow, I don't feel touchpad is very sensitive. I am not quite used to use 2 buttons for single click and double click; 3. at the price, CPU needs to be more powerful. the original price was over 3,000. At that price, the CPU must be more powerful; (I always feel ThinkPad is overpriced) 4. For a working station, there should be more room to upgrade the storage. This one only has a single storage, sounds not like a working station. 5. Somehow I don't feel battery lasts very long. Not sure what other people say. All over feeling? very good laptop.

This one is lighter than my previous personal one (maybe because no cd/dvd drive. But it's quite powerful for my needs. Customized it and added additional memory and storage. Also purchased the docking station and have laptop connected to 2 monitors. Super fast and definitely satisfied with purchase.

She's been happy with it so far-- it's doing all the heavy lifting it needs to. I am also a Lenovo user and trust that it will stay reliable for the long haul, as our others have.

However, I love this laptop and it’s such an improvement from my old Dell laptop. Its a great laptop and I just wish they improved their production and shipping process. In addition, I wish they would sell replacement keys to go along with the Fn and Ctrl function switch in the settings.

Shipping was VERY fast and the unit was well-packed. As expected, the machine booted up right away into setup. It was a perfect transaction!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stop harassing me for reviews The computer is great except it keeps randomly disconnecting from my wifi and then reconnecting again a few seconds later. I've looked it up and apparently it's a thing. Too busy to figure out a solution that works. Would be great if I didn't have to considering it's a brand new computer and cost a lot of money. Other than that, my only complaints about it are that the ctrl button on the left is the second button instead of the first so I keep accidentally hitting function+v instead of ctrl+v etc. I also don't like the shape of the directional buttons. I also don't like that there is only a windows button on the bottom left and not one on the right. I understand that the keyboard probably had to be made a certain way to get everything to work properly, cut corners wherever so that everything else works well, but yeah that's what my problem is with this computer.

I bought this laptop because it had the physical hardware I was looking for, with the number pad and backlit keyboard. For the price I paid, I wish the processor was the latest generation with more power and the graphics could be better as well. Overall I'm happy with what I received and it has performed well so far and the sound is great. The security features are a nice touch also. The fingerprint reader is fast and responsive and the laptop boots up immediately.

I have been an Apple person for close to 30 years but I recently have had a falling out with them and have grown to love PC's. This machine is a workhorse. It's versatile, it has nice, sharp, crisp graphics and has very little lag. Not to mention a lot cheaper than a Mac. I have yet to put a load on the processor by doing anything graphically heavy but I'm confident it will be able to handle whatever I throw at it. It's extremely light weight but the only thing I miss compared to my old mac is the fact that it's not wrapped in aluminum. Other than I'm ecstatic.

I'm a ride or die kinda of Lenovo Think Pad person, I've owned laptops from about all of the companies out there and hands down my Think Pads outlast all of them. I'm hard on my laptops and I still get 3-4 years out of them. I also like that they are easy to upgrade for the most part. More and more of the laptop companies to include Lenovo are starting to solder everything to the motherboard but that is because everyone wants thin and light. I personaly would exchange some weight and size to be able to upgrade memore and ram and such but they will do were the market takes them. My P53 is another great laptop that has become my daily driver.

[Key to a spreadsheet geek's inner peace.] 15.6" screen great for spreadsheets and DBs, and plenty of ports so no issues needing a bag full of dongles. My dream machine would have had a touch screen and 360 degree hinge, but on a 15.6" workhorse, how many times would it be used in "tablet" mode anyway? This one's an absolute keeper.

Upon configuring the laptop we could not find the product keys for the Windows 10 OS or the Microsoft Home & Office 2019. We called the customer support and found the process cumbersome and insufficient. Had to make multiple phone calls which took 2 to 3 hours to resolve the issue.

Battery Life....Top/medium shelf. I'm teaching myself 3D Art and unplugged I am still getting roughly 5-6 hours without worry School Work....i don't know what that is. The keyboard is super comfy once you get used to have the number pad in a laptop. When i go back to my desktop I reach for the nonexistent number pad often. Gaming....I have't thrown many games at it just yet. i tested out one just to see what it could do. There were minimal issues in terms of lag or overheating Heating/Cooling....The fans do their job. If you have proper airflow beneath it there shouldn't ever be a problem. The fans are "loud" but as powerful as this thing is it's expected. Overall.....worth the investment. I would say upgrade to a 1TB SSD just to give yourself more freedom for everything. Don't forget to upgrade that RAM either

Setup and activation was a piece if cake, and I am looking forward to putting this system through it’s paces with CAD and GIS work. I was in a time crunch so had to choose from a pre-designed system, but I wish I could have gotten this computer with more RAM. I can easily add more myself, though, if and when the time comes.

I am a student so I needed a laptop that I could bring to all my classes that was still powerful enough to run solidworks, other cad software, coding applications and other programs while multitasking. The GPU is enough for the small scale CAD modelling that I do for classes and for personal projects. It light, thin, and the battery can last through all my classes without needing to charge often. *small warning: this laptop doesn't work well for video games, so don't buy it if you're looking for a machine to work and play on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It weighs a large coffee more than XPS13 Bought the P53s for an extended assignment away from the office - wanted a larger screen and keyboard than my XPS13. It was such an awesome experience that I have been taking both with me on trips, thinking I would use the XPS in airports and on the plane. Reality was I hardly used the XPS, most of my travel time was spent reading reports or on my phone. Finally just gave the XPS to my kid and upgraded my phone. I have gladly exchanged the 20 ounce weight difference for a more powerful machine with a dedicated video card, luscious keyboard and keypad. It is so much easier to work on the P53s - I am getting more work done in a shorter amount time. Ironically, I am now getting more sleep while away on assignment and don't need that second 20 ounce cup of coffee - so the weight difference is a wash!

There are some unexpected split second screen crashes (screen goes black) but it isn’t that big of a deal really. Some people say the design sucks but once you have it in person it’s not bad at all, I was honestly impressed.

I love the fingerprint feature for very fast log on. Downsides: I wish it had 3 USB ports instead of 2. When I did a zoom meeting, my video and sound/microphone quality could have been better (I sounded less clear than other people).

The applications that Lenovo has provided for download to keep laptop up to date are to be greatly admired for their simplicity and ability to self correct and self direct. The laptop that I'm replacing is a little more than 4 years old and still running like new. I wanted the new technology of the USB-C Thunderbolt 3, Display port which is stunningly fast. The days of waiting to download or archive are over. I give it the highest marks in all categories. I use it for work.

I'm giving four instead of five stars because the ThinkPad's keyboard shortcuts lack some of the functionality I wanted (like pausing and skipping music without navigating to your music player). Other than that, I'm very pleased. Right out of the box, this laptop starts up very quickly, programs launch quickly and run smoothly, and the laptop just feels good to use. Not to mention it's more lightweight than my previous laptop despite having much more powerful components packed in, and the build quality seems really solid.

I was very happy with my new P53s until this morning when it wouldn't boot Windows. Spoke to a Lenovo service representative who said that Windows probably wasn't set up correctly in the factory and is sending me a USB device for a fresh install of Windows. This will arrive in 4 to 5 business days and then I must port over all my data and applications data as well as losing all the data I had generated in the week since I had the system. Very disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our third P5X series... and we will buy again This is our third Lenovo purchase in the P5X series. We have had excellent experiences with these machines. Several things keep us coming back. 1) Durability - we use these machines out on factory floors where they get bumped around and handled a lot during use. They have held up remarkably well. Our only failure so far is the little joystick in the middle of the keyboard breaking off. 2) Reliability - these machines are used all day, every day and rarely experience hiccups, most of which are OS related. We run multiple virtual machines at once taxing the available memory and hard drive activity to its max. We never get overheating or hardware problems. 3) Usability - the keyboards, touch pads, and displays are very comfortable and responsive. The P5X "s" models are very lightweight which is nice when you're moving around with them a lot. The battery life seems about average for laptops these days. Not noticeably better or worse than other brands. We have observed great performance in terms of speed and load handling for our applications. Our apps are generally not graphics intensive, so I cannot speak to that capability very well. I've grown to admire the P5X machines enough that I rarely even consider other laptop brands at all, except Macs, which I need for certain applications. The Lenovos are getting up there in price these days (perhaps due to all the remote work related to COVID?), and are less of a great value than they used to be, but we demand reliability and performance in our machines, so I still think they're a "good" value for the money, especially if a coupon can be found.

Its not heavy and easily be carried. Screen is great and very bright and clean. Bootup is fast, Backlit key board is soft and good. Processing speed is great. Running SQL Server 2018 Dev and it runs fast. Its a good developers machine. I upgraded the memory and it was easy. Followed the steps from YouTube. Overall its a good machine and happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect 3D CAD So far, the laptop is working as expected. I use SolidWorks 2019-20 and it is running rather smooth with my engine assembly. I have not encountered any issues, occasional frame rate drops when working in SolidWorks, but for the price point, this gets the job done easily. One con, the battery life drains rather quickly when not on battery saver mode due to the 4k screen.

Really fills like a thin and light considering that I'm currently using a fully loaded P51 as my main laptop. My biggest issues out the box: 1) I've had an issue with my wifi adapter with connecting properly that I've had to contact support to fix. They just mailed me a new module for it and I'm under the impression that I need to install it myself. The support staff didn't really provide clarity that I would really expect. I would have thought it would thru the depot service but that does not look to be the case 2) Speaker could be a bit more powerful. It's weaker than previous thinkpads I've had. 3) There are dedicated "Parenthesis" buttons and a dedicated "equal"/calculator" button that I would have preferred as additional volume command buttons.

I know this is something you can change with a price difference, but for what this computer costs, I would think the screen would be larger. I absolutely LOVE the keyboard on this laptop. It is by far the best laptop keyboard I have ever used.

While working with our vendor, Tiffany we found the P53s and discovered a flagship machine that not only would perform as a lightweight and long lasting sales machine, but would also perform for our engineering department and graphics design department. Instead of ordering one, we nabbed 4, and intend to order one for every employee in the company! I'm almost reluctant to recommend it more as I don't want it to sell out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Screen! I have to admit I thought this laptop was a little big when I pulled it out of the box. It wasn't heavy, it was just big from a dimensional perspective. But after using it regularly for the past couple of weeks I can't believe I used something so small in the past. And the resolution is amazing. The colors and text are so crisp! I've had several ThinkPad's over the past 15 years and they've worked great, but the screens were so small and a bit fuzzy. I highly recommend the 15" 4K screen. I'm never going back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice laptop, can be better Nice laptop, battery is very good and the keyboard is very very pleasant, even better then the HP EliteBook series, it makes you to type and type and type...:) Personally, downside is the touch pad, somehow the material is not the greatest and when I'm scrolling I have very strange feeling to my fingers, not so smooth. Forced to use mouse.

It is much faster and reliable than the HP product hands down. Plenty powerful enough to complete all the tasks I need it for. Great Machine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, Great Battery Life, Great Value P53s This P53s was a great replacement for my old E550 ThinkPad. The same size screen but in a smaller form factor. The 8th generation i7 seems much quicker than the i7 in the E550. It boots much faster and has much, much longer battery life. I like the idea that is allows a RAM upgrade although it came with 8GB soldered in place. One 32GB SODIMM later and I now have 40GB. I also love the discrete and integrated graphics and that they also show up as GPU's in the Task Manager. The prices was very reasonable to me. I've found this laptop to be a very good value.

With 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD this laptop performs wonderfully. It's very sleek looking with a nice velvet feeling finish. I was able to use student discounts and other promotions to get close to 50% off which was great. The manual that comes with it as well as the electronic one is lacking. I still don't know what the middle mouse button does.

The new P53s is perfect machine for me. The CPU is working efficiently for my tasks, with capable fan (still get a little warm though). The screen is very sharp, and the keyboard and "red dot" is always as good as the previous version. Also the portability is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop if you find the pricing reasonable Solid laptop. I have a 1tb ssd, i7 8665U, 24gb ram, Nvidia Quadro P520 2gb. Add a fingerprint too. Very convenient. Surprisingly sleek, and solid chassis that leaves no fingerprint marks. Decent trackpad but an amazing keyboard. Nearly non existent fan noise unless doing some rendering or other heavy work. Wouldn't recommend if you plan on gaming given the specs. Display is very sharp and crisp. Battery performance appears to last for a at least 4 hours just doing light browsing and couple applications. Haven't recharged the battery yet and still has 56%. Overall, would recommend if the pricing seems reasonable.

Lenovo sends me multiple videos to watch from youtube on service, like i have time to watch repair videos all night. It's your warranty issue and the burden to fix is on you not the buyer. Sadly disappointed.
