I have only used it for a short time and have yet to get accustomed to the large flap but it is part of the design so i think over time i will get used to it. I had a bag that had 2 straps to carry but the flat straps started to twist and became a pain to deal with having to move out of the way and untwist them. Tried the shoulder strap that was included but i think i will use it without it. I have received a compliment on it already !! overall, i am pleased with it.

It has held up amazingly for over 2 years of hard use and every blemish just adds character. I did have an issue with the tiny screws in the main flap clasps starting to come out shortly after I got it but instead of sending it back or in for repair I simply put a single drop of super glue on each screw (completely invisible) and they have been locked in solid without an issue since. Leather conditioner every 6 months and it's holding up great1

I used it to hold macbook air 13", power supply and 2 hard drives. it's also heavey and noe convenient to carry so it's best for small walks, from parking lot to the office in the elevator and not good for longer walks.

One of the other comments is that the leather is darker than pictured. Yes, it is. But I like it better. It's a deep brown, and the sticking is a lighter tan, which is a stunning contrast.

Previous cases had many hidden pockets in which it was frustratingly easy to misplace & overlook items. This case just makes more sense with its practical division of space and ample secured pockets. I've carried it extensively for a couple years now. So far, better than good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed The satchel had scrapes in the bottom of the leather. Leather often has unique imperfections, but this item was damaged. It was a birthday gift for my son. He needed it for a trip so he kept it and didn't try to return it. I was surprised and disappointed that Samsonite would send it this way. Overall, it is well designed and stylish. But I would not buy from Samsonite again.

I often get comments on how 'slick' or 'professional' the case looks. The laptop sleeve can hold more recent thin laptops just fine (14" Lenovo T440), with plenty of room to spare for several books, folders, or other documents. My larger, heavier duty laptop (15.6" HP 8540w) also fits but the large charger takes up most of the remaining compartment space. This isn't necessarily a problem with the bag, more a feature of having a large "workhorse" type laptop. All of the zippers, seams, straps, and clips have held up wonderfully after more than a year of nearly daily use. The only blemishes (small and hardly noticeable) on the case have come from my own clumsy hands: dropping it on the ground, roughly packing it into the space under an airplane seat etc. This is a quality product that will likely last me at least 10+ years of use. Highly recommended.

I would say from the look and feel it's value for money. I haven't started using it yet, so as from a durability standpoint, I wouldn't be able to comment just as yet. One of the clasps were a little off, but with a slight adjustment, it worked fine. A little heavy, expected probably for a leather bag though....

I was looking for a case that could replace it and serve me at least as well. Within less than a day I found this superb replacement. Definitely a step (maybe two) above my previous case, it's already a comfortable, welcome companion on my daily excursions. I really like it!

It looks nothing like in the picture at all -- the color is a dark brown (almost black--see attached picture) and the texture and quality of the leather also look completely different than in the product photo. I really expected better. From the other reviews it seems like there is just a lot of variation in the quality of the product--perhaps others were luckier than I was. Such a disappointment, and to have to pay for the return shipping charges on top of that. I am not going to "risk" making these kinds of online purchases from Samsonite in the future. What is in the picture and what arrives are just two completely different products.

It is a very stylish and nice looking bag, but unfortunately, it was too small for his everyday work needs. It was too narrow to hold his laptop and all of his papers, notebooks and other office supplies. We returned it for this reason. If it had been a little wider, he might have kept it. This bag would be perfect for someone who just needs to carry the basics to and from home and office or for light business travel. Also, the leather is a good quality, but if your bag will be tossed around a lot, scratch marks will eventually appear on the leather.

But clasp to shoulder strap connection broke while I was traveling and dropped my bag with computer and iPad from hip height. Thank God nothing broke, but I still have to hand carry bag from Far East. I love Samsonite products, but I will never buy another messenger bag from them. I'll stick to their luggage only.

I've used it for business, and most recently as my de facto flight bag for my commercial pilot training. I love the stylishly classic design as well as its ruggedness. It is versatile enough to accessorize sneakers and jeans, khakis and a polo, or a pinstripe suit. This bag is a winner.

Everyday, I carry; a 15 inch MacBook (and its bulky charger), several binders and folders for work, work cell phone and charger, approx 15 pens/pencils and markers, white out and tape, my glasses, a staper, and several other office items, and this bag carries it all perfectly. It's a portable desk. I work in the field so I'm always traveling and driving. I've gone through several other bags and none of them are as practical or as good looking as this Samsonite. Trust me, a stranger from the internet, this is the best messenger bag you will ever own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy, but well made briefcase. I bought this to replace a Trunk and Co. bag I bought in Paris in 1998, the nylon was showing it's age. The leather bag is built to a high standard, and designed well for a laptop and files, however, it is heavy and less adaptable than the old nylon bag. Fit and finish is very professional, the bag really looks the part, as a briefcase. As a travel bag/ messenger bag etc. it is just too heavy, too restrictive, and the faux belt buckles don't allow for oversized loads.

However, the 2 front clasps have completely fallen apart and one buckle connecting the shoulder strap fails to close as well. Failed within the first year, all within weeks of each other.
