Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and good grip I bought the 6 pack not wanting to run out during move from Texas to Florida ised a U-haul box they pick up and store, when it was delivered 2 weeks later not one box had come undone tape held everything together. Moved again in Fla. bought more tape every box stayed taped. Worth the money my only complaint is the despenser very hard to use but the tape is great. Can't go wrong and don't understand the negative reviews unless they bought the wrong tape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Packing Tape I have a hard time with most types of packing tape - the tape always peels unevenly off of the roll, making a mess and forcing me to waste some of it. Not so with this one from 3M! Not only is it heavy duty and super easy to tear, but each layer of tape stays whole, making it so much easier to use. I'm going to use this brand from now on. **Note: I received this item for free, but my opinions are not influenced by that fact.**

We just have one concern that will make us still using it or not: is it made out of recycle plastic? how is 3m positioning its brand regarding the environment?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use for more than packaging This tape can be used for more than packaging. One really good feature is that the end never gets lost. If you've ever had tape come off the end in pieces or strips you know what I mean. You don't have that problem with this tape

I also use it to tape the labels on the packages, and to tape on labels on household things, such as names of cereals cut off the boxes and taped onto cereal containers, lists of things contained in boxes, Christmas decorations, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tape is Strong - Dispenser - So - So I have been using Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape for many, many years. I have found that the quality and strength of the tape has far surpassed any other packing tape I have used. I pack and ship items on a very regular basis with eBay sales and need something I can rely on. Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Tape has done just that. I typically use a full size Tape Dispenser Gun for my packing needs. However, 3M sent me a small roll of Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Tape on a small dispenser for free in exchange for an honest review. The blade on the dispenser is just as good as the blade on my regular packing tape gun. The tape is easily pulled through the tabs and torn off evenly, though it may take a little practice to do it efficiently. I’ve been doing it for years - so it is very easy for me. The cons to me are that a much smaller roll fits on this dispenser over a regular tape gun. If you have a large project, such as moving, you will want a lot more tape and a tape gun would be more efficient. For the person who rarely ships out a package, this works well. The dispenser doesn’t really have a great way to hold the loose end of the tape once it is started. It tends to fall back from the blade and tabs and stick to the roll again. This is not very efficient and quickly becomes wasteful when you try to pull a fresh piece up and can’t get it evenly started. Overall, I highly recommend the tape itself. The dispenser is not of the greatest quality, but would serve its purpose for small projects. I recommend a tape gun for larger packaging projects with the heavy duty tape.

I have tried different packing tape sometimes but always go back to a Scotch brand. The dispenser is wonderful, I don't have to ruin my finger nails trying to get scratch off the end piece that always sticks So, I go to the store and get my Scotch brand tape. I also have relatives and friends who live far away, so when I send their birthday or Christmas gifts I really depend on the scotch packaging tape. I have had such ease using Scotch brand tape and tell my relatives and friends about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst tape ever! I bought this tape about a week ago and the tape did not have any type of adhesive. The roll basically became undone as soon as you pulled the tape off. On top of that the tape was really expensive. Very dissatisfied with the quality of the product.

It also sticks onto itself before you have a chance to actually tape something with - more like fly paper now. I have purchased so many times with no headaches. The Tape is not the same. I have never had a problem with this tape and realize this brand is typically very reliable (and more expensive but it is the best) however I bought this tape recently in a local CVS and there is absolutely no using it. It doesn't stick. I'm thinking they missed a step. I don't know how many are like this but it is completely useless. It's basically trash. Very disappointed.

The blade on the dispenser is sharp and makes cutting very easy , this is extremely helpful when sealing a lot of items in a timely manner. Tape seals seamlessly and stays in place, I feel confident that my packages are secure and nothing will open up during shipping with reasonable conditions considered.

Had High Performance Packaging Tape with Heavy Duty Dispenser on hand. Went around it both ways to make sure the box would stay together. It did. Very pleased. didnt need much but it worked so well my daughter complained the it was hard to get open. :)

Scotch Heavy Duty does the job in one strip! I am impressed with the gauge thickness and hold, very good job Scotch.

We had water soaked boxes and a mess . But the boxes we got and the Scotch brand movers tape made it a breeze to repack the damaged boxes and move them to a different place. I wasted half a roll. The last time I moved, a friend brought me some other brand of packaging tape and I apologized and stated I only use Scotch "Packaging Tape." I also use it around the house for items that need repairs. I also love the Scotch "Painters Tape." It is a wonderful product not only for painting jobs, but for jobs that you need to tape items to other surfaces.

It is very easy to tape up my packages and i can use less because it is so strong. It applies easily and rips off easy. It's easy to grip onto the dispenser, also. Rated 5 out of 5 by from NOT Sticky. Will not stick to regular cardboard. Based on all of the rave reviews, I must have received a bad batch or something. I got a small box of these 1.5" cores on the plastic dispensers. I took one small roll (out of the small box of them) with me to a convention, so that I could pack up everything when the show was complete. When I put it on the first box, I noticed that something was very wrong. It would barely stick to the box. I noticed that it would barely even stick to my fingers. I then tried to seal a couple boxes with it. However, buy the time I got to the next box, it was already coming off of the previous box. When pulled it off of the roll, it was nearly as sticky on the "adhesive" side as it was on the back. This was huge mess for me. It was the only roll of tape I had (I only had 6-7 boxes to seal). When I got back, I noticed that the other brand-new rolls were the same. Very disappointing. :-(

The tape is strong and durable so that you don't have to worry about your packages coming open. I also love that the dispenser makes the tape so easy to use and tear and makes the job easy. This is definitely a product I would recommend for home and for work and it makes shipping easy.

This heavy duty shipping tape feels like a better quality tape I used 2 pieces didn't worry and package made it to my son okay.It sticks better than any other I have tried. I LOVE IT.

The tape itself is so sturdy that it gives me complete confidence when sending packages in the mail, by courier, or even for storage purposes. I honestly feel better knowing I am using Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Tape. The dispenser is, well, dispensable! *LOL* It makes it so convenient you do not have to worry about scissors. The dispenser makes it nice and easy to rip off a piece of tape without having to find a scissors to complete the job. Have not had any issues with the tape, also if you feel the thickness of the tape you can tell its heavy duty. If you were to compare this to some generic brand there is a remarkable difference. Definitely choose 3M when possible. I was provided a sample of the 3M Heavy duty tape for a review.

Since it was heavy duty, we thought it would hold up better than normal tape against the hustle and bustle of a busy castle. So far, the castle is still in one piece,and the tape is still securely in place. The tape does feel slightly thicker than regular packaging tape. Overall, we are pleased with this product.

I filled a box with old photos and taped it shut, I sealed and mailed a box of AZ goodies to my brother and my daughter used it to create a poster board of her artwork. Easy to use, doesn't get tangled.

It sticks really well and won't budge. I used it to seal some boxes I keep stored in the garage. It kept them tightly closed. Will keep buying this tape as soon as I run out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously strong but frustrating to start peeling 3M gave me a free sample of this product to evaluate, and this stuff is really strong it held without problem on several boxes of books, and holds well to the cardboard. I even used it to temporarily fix a broken cell phone screen. The only problem with this tape is getting the tape off the roll, it tends to tear off in a thin strip rather than across the entire face of the roll. I had several other people try it to rule my method or arthritis as the cause of the problem, and all had the same issue. Once i got the roll started the dispenser/cutter worked flawlessly and cut well. After cutting a strip I would fold over the last 1/4 inch of tape on itself to make a flap I could use to avoid the issue with starting the tape. I would love to see 3M/Scotch add a similar mechanism for the new roll, a simple fold or piece of cardboard could make this tape much easier to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive I received this product at no cost for my honest review. I was happy to see that it is made in the USA! We have lots of family that all live out of state so we mail lots of packages. I usually have to wrap the tape around and around the package but was surprised to find that this tape is strong and it really is sealed with one strip. I felt confident in mailing a large envelope and a box with just one strip over the opening. I did have some trouble getting the tape started off the roll and it did split and tear up until this little protective start strip they have on the tape. After that I had no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Ergonomic! I received a 3M - Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape Dispenser for free. I like this design because it is very ergonomic. It fits easily in my hand and is very easy to maneuver. It’s a simple design with convenient raised ridges on the sides for better grip. The tape rolls and dispenses easily and smoothly and tears easily with the metal guide. The small blades are not sharp to the touch but are effective at tearing the tape. I’m very satisfied with the simple, yet effective design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Reliable Packaging Tape Out There I have tried overall 6 different brands of Packaging Tape for my Shipping Supplies of Boxes & re-inforcing bubble mailers. I personally feel this tape performed the BEST out of ALL the other brands. Easy to 'Start off' the roll, simple application to the boxes & holds up to everything (I have yet to have a buyer tell me that a box broke it's seal or the tape gave out/ ripped). Overall, EXCELLENT product, great value, too (you use less of it--you don't have to go over the same spot 2 to 3 times). Hope this helps you decide, Jecca A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One serious problem! It wraps and seals well. If that were my only criterion, I'd give it five stars. However, it is virtually impossible to re-thread the tape. I just gave up: I rip off what I need and apply it manually. If only instructions were available (sigh!). That being the case, it's completely useless to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Packing Tape The Scotch heavy duty tape is very nice and sturdy. The tape itself has a pretty good thickness to it and it delivers the "stickiness" to properly tape down a shipping box. The dispenser, on the other hand, needs some getting used to. The tape can be a little finicky to pull from the dispenser. But once you get the right angle, the tape rolls like a dream! What I really appreciate is the tape cutter at the end of the dispenser. The blade/cutter makes cutting a piece of tape 10x easier than having to find a pair of scissors. Overall, I am very happy with the the functionality of the product and the convenience it offers with the blade/cutter at the tip of the tape dispenser. I received a sample of this product from 3M but the opinions are of my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong, I use to make repairs and ship boxes I have used the Scotch brand packaging tape dispenser and tape for years and I love it. It is easy to use, you can do it one handed, and once they are taped they don't come open until you cut them open. I have used the tape to repair things like a broken center pole on my Christmas tree, that was several years ago and it is still holding. I also ship on Ebay and use this tape to close the boxes and tape on the labels. I tape over the address section of the labels so they do not smear if they get wet plus it closes those boxes tightly and they do not come open during mailing. In a pinch, I have also cut small strips and used it to tape wrapping paper on Christmas presents. I can use the dispenser one handed leaving my other hand free to hold the package or item being taped in place. I would recommend this tape and dispenser to anyone requiring the use of a packaging tape.

My husband ships products often, and he tried this out. He ran to me to rave about it!! He was thrilled to not have to re-stick the tape down by hand after a few minutes. This tape was very easy to get started, pull out to dispense the tape and tear pieces off. I was able to do it very easy and fast. I also love that the tape even feels thicker and durable. I was able to send our phone back with piece of mind knowing it was secure with this tape. I'm very pleased with it and will buy more when i need it.

It is almost impossible to break. The grip of this product has been amazing the way it sticks to almost any surface. I know that one of the largest shipping companies around uses this product to seal packages that come open to help them reach their destination successfully.

You have to cut through the tape and lose some of the first part of the roll due to that. What is the point of having a starter section when it doesn't?

First, I have never figured out (using for years) how to easily get that little piece of cardboard out that gets stuck in the way of the blade. But the tape I just received, the tape is actually installed backwards! Yes, it was easy to take it off and turn it around, but really - who put it together!

The dispenser is easy to use. It helps to keep the tape straight so I can tape my boxes together for shipping. Once it's stuck, it's staying or else you'll damage the paper it's stuck to. The dispenser works perfectly just like the other packing tape dispensers I've used on Scotch products. Perfect for heavy moving boxes!

They only tell you what everybody knows already - how to use it once you can get to it. But actually figuring out how to unpeel it? Nothing in the instructions. Nothing on line. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tape Changed - Doesn't Stick Well Anymore My company has been using this tape exclusively for years - tens of thousands of packages shipped - and loved the small size, ease of use and quality of what this tape USED to be. Over the past few months, the tape changed - it now says "40 times stronger" and feels very different (thinner and slicker), which would be fine except that when the "new" tape is used on standard kraft shipping boxes it doesn't stay stuck!!! Really 3M? What the heck good is shipping tape that comes untaped on its own from shipping boxes??? Extremely disappointed in the changes to this product and that we are going to have to switch to another type of tape.

The tape dispenser is easy to use, the tape is heavy duty. I had some cheaper tape that needed several strips of tape to hold the box shut. The heavy duty tape held up well during transporting. I can't say enough positive things about this tape!

(Most tape requires several passes. The cutter easily allows cleanly trim a piece to your desired length. When you find a quality item like this, you should stick to it. :-)

The built in dispenser and cutter worked good. The cutting edge has many little teeth that allows for easy clean tears from the roll. This tape is great. I have never had any issue with 3M shipping or packing tape holding up to the rigors of shipping or moving. Having moved 10+ times in 17 years I understand the value in a high quality pack tape. Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape is the best. Even if it is a little more expensive than other tapes on the market the cost is easily justifiable.

It is SO sticky, it sticks hard to itself. I cannot get a full width piece to even get it started to use on the dispenser. It breaks off in little pieces and is next to impossible to pry off the roll. I'm so annoyed with the this roll.

The tape was easy to apply with the provided dispenser and worked well with no problem on my shipment. We tend to pack as much as possible in the flat rate boxes and often I need to use several strips of tape just to hold the flaps of the carton down so I can seal the center where the flaps meet. This tape worked out perfectly for this!

I fished my old, broken one out of the trash so I could tape a box up for storage. I'm going to try to saw some "teeth" into the new dispenser. Wish me luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Packing Tape with Dispenser This tape is great for sealing up boxes. It is strong and seals really well. The fall back tabs on the dispenser really keep the tape from sealing back on itself, unlike other brands of tape I have used before. When I started the roll, the tape split into smaller strips, but there was a strip across the width of the tape, near the beginning of the roll, that helped you pull up the whole width of the tape. So no getting pieces of tape that are only a centimeter of two in width, or wasting your tape trying to get the full width. That is an excellent feature! The only drawback is that the tape doesn't roll off very easily, and I had to turn the roll on the dispenser with my other hand. In other words, I had to manually unspool the tape before putting it on the package, instead of just pulling the tape out across the package. But other than that, this tape is the best I have ever used. I would give it 4 1/2 stars!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good tape. Dispenser sucks “Pull tape through tabs”?? The tape falls back onto the roll every time I tape something. I have no idea if I threaded the tape correctly or not. Wasted tons of tape because it sticks to the roll.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super heavy duty I typically use Scotch packaging tape, but had not tried the heavy duty. This is very heavy duty. I would trust it for any package that might be heavy that you want to ensure it keep taped shut. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that it was very hard to get the tape started. It tore in multiple places (see photo). One I got it started then it worked great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from assurance my son gets my pkg to AFGHANISTAN I have been using this tape for 13 yrs for all my son's packages with his deployments from Iraq to Afghanistan. Its the toughness of the adhesive that make me feel confident this tape does it's job.When you are waiting for a piece of home ,you wan to make sure it arrives.I would not use anything else,today I'm running out to buy more for another pkg for my son for the holidays.So,take my advice from a single parent military mom who counts her pennies.It is worth it,it is never a lot to buy and i use it for those precious packages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scotch packing Tape I am in the process of moving and I have been using the scotch tape . It is very effective for securely wrapping boxes . I would definitely recommend it as a top choice for packing tape . The dispenser makes it very quick and efficient as well .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution. This tape is the perfect solution for your packing needs. I was trying to use duct tape to tape up a box to ship and duct tape couldn't stay still. It was falling off like nothing. And I went and bought this tape and till this day it hasn't fallen off. In fact I tried to lift up some times and it's so sticked on to the box that the box paper started to give way and tear. It's the best tape in the market!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy I received a sample of this tape, I love the handy cutter Attachment. I always have to carry scissors to cut pieces of tape when using it on a package. I used it on my package that was busting at the seems to test the heavy duty part. The tape itself is thick. The stickiness works well. Just make sure to press it down on the box to stick it well. Usually I use too much tape bc i am not sure it would stay stuck. Well I let this sit in a humid room for a weekend before sending it on Monday. It stayed stuck and looked great.

We use the heavy duty tape to secure the boxes shape, It holds the sides together even with the stress of lateral bending and moisture. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only shipping/packing tape I ever use! I got this at no charge in exchange for my review. Funny thing is that I already have 3 rolls of Scotch shipping tape in my house! It's what I always use for shipping and every year I use it to pack my Christmas decorations. Best tape ever!! The dispenser is easy to use and the tape secures my boxes so well, one strip is all I use (whereas other tapes I had to double or triple up on). Thanks, 3M and Scotch for the freebie! :-)

As I taped my boxes it was a great stick to begin with. The tape dispenser helps guide the tape easily across and also cuts the tape easily. It was an easy glide across the box seams and then at the finish. It had a very strong hold from start to finish. The tape sticks well and doesn’t peel off. It made taping boxes go by a lot faster and even when I pushed a lot on the seams that I have taped it did not give way. I love that this tape has a strong hold and was so simple to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEAVY DUTY is an UNDERSTATEMENT WHOA!! This is some heavy duty tape, I mean HEAVY DUTY. I boxed up a few of my friends daughters dorm items and taped them up with this tape. Well, its move in day, it's crazy and my friend and her daughter both told me a story of one of the boxes I packed and taped going down a flight of stairs and the box never opened! The tape held going down a flight of stairs and contents were shaken but not broken. If this tape can survive dorm move in day, then this tape will out last us all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tape... Horrible Dispenser The tape is great. I am a teacher and use it a great deal to hang things in my classroom. The dispenser is the worst!!!!!! It gets stuck and or it clings to the roll and I have to find the edge of the tape to start it rolling. Bad Design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape/Disper Had 6 rolls of this tape forgotten in a warm 2nd floor closet for at least 3 yrs. Got laid off, started cleaning out rooms, found the tape, started making Covid19 masks to ship out to people all over the US. Used up these rolls on Sm & Med USPS boxes, and shipping labels, tape never failed me. Strong and stuck like glue on everything Ive used so far. The found rolls were perfectly fine in the warm closet for many years. I will definitely buy more.
