Extra cable,
It worked but the monitor was so old that it could not handle the display from the new XPS. Ended up having to purchase a new monitor. This would be very helpful for a transition monitor.

Expensive cable with a one year warranty
Woud be 5-star but Dell website from which I placed the order said this cable has a lifetime warranty. Actual package said one year. I was disappointed with the discrepancy because I could have purchased cables with a one year warranty for about half the price. Otherwise they are good and work well...

Beware that the HDMI end may not fit laptop HDMI
This cable fit my monitor's DVI connection perfectly. Does not fit the laptop's HDMI out. I did not notice that one end of the HDMI end is square. Ultimately returned it and got a different cable that fit the laptop

Worst Cables I've Ever Purchased
Worst cables I've ever bought. I bought 2 of these cables from Dell when I purchased a new Dell Desktop. Worked fine at first but after a couple of days I lost one of my displays. A Dell rep determined the cable was the problem. However, Dell wouldn't replace the cable and the company that manufactured them required me to send the cable to them at my expense which wasn't worth the cost. About a month later the display connected to the other cable went out. What a waste of money.
