It works amazing and is super fast. I was amazed how fast it prints compared to our old printer. I like the way the paper tray is set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Our old HP laser printer suddenly stopped working and we wanted to replace it with a new one that basically had the same features. We print checks from QuickBooks and like to have a bypass tray for that reason. This one does have the front loading bypass tray. (you can do labels, envelopes, etc too) We have it connected to the office desktop via USB (we have another device for wireless) and just needed a hard-wired workhorse laser printer - this one fit the bill. I am an idiot and had it set up and printing in about 10 minutes. :)

The software package was not compatible with all the computers on our network (there are about 8, all running Windows 10). Among the computers it was working with- some would randomly get booted off, some worked for one day then would not work the next day, and one worked for one day then completely failed to recognize the device despite it being directly connected. Over a seven day period multiple people tried every fix we were aware of, including purchasing another one. An outside IT guy couldn't solve it. Business crawled, customers were frustrated, employees were near tears. We bought a different brand, installed it, and the whole network was up and running in 20 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Printer EVER It is not dependable and the job I have requires daily use of a printer, our tech support at work has spent hours trying to get it to work, sometimes it will print, sometimes it will shoot out hundreds of pages of paper with jibberish at the bottom. Multiple co workers have had the same problems. Buyer beware if you purchase this printer.

Received the replacement and the printer rollers are not working. Been working with HP for a couple of weeks trouble shooting and still no solution.

The initial setup was straightforward but we are experiencing print driver issues for Windows 10. HP support has directed me to update our firmware which requires the printer to be connected to your network and to use their Universal Drivers PCL6.

A TRUE WORK HORSE HP Laser Jet Pro M404N If you want a printer that is affordable, and fast, and will easily print thousands of pages without always needing maintenance or refills on supplies, then this is it! The included Toner will print about 3,000 pages before it needs any kind of replacement. HP even offers a 258X toner cartridge that can print about 10,000 pages before it needs replacing. Low maintenance, easy setup, quality, quality, quality! This truthfully the beat black and white print money can buy. And HP just makes really great stuff! I just received mine today, and I’ve printed hundreds of pages and my toner is still full. Don’t waste your time with the small ink printers that use these tiny proprietary cartridges. This thing uses a big toner cartridge that is readily available all over the internet! And it will last last and last! BUY IT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for working at home I needed a printer that would work with my secured network docking station. Nothing fancy. Just black printing, no color. No wireless, had to be direct connect. Fast. Easy to setup. This checked all the right boxes. Only disappointment. No matter how much I verified before purchase, it wasn't until box arrived that I saw it did not have a direct connect printer to USB cable. I see on the HP website one was available for $3.29 and would have ordered one with it if I had known. Had to pay 10 times as much and leave my secure home to shop at my local Office Supply store which only had the highest end gold plated connectors. I just couldn't wait any more to get my home workspace operational. Not sure why paying so much for the printer that a cable was not included in the box.

You really messed things up when you went to the Smart App over being able to format the printer from Windows. I definitely would not recommend any of the HP printers as long as you are required to use the Smart App.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well when it works correctly Have this unit for two months and when it prints correctly, it's a nice unit. Pages are crisp and clean looking, good speed and of course HP's menu is not very intuitive bordering on frustrating. But this unit has a software issue at times. I get gibberish printed three or four times a day where it doesn't understand what it's asked to print. I'm no computer tech, I just hit print and expect it to print as much as anyone else. This printer does it often printing many pages of gibberish. I have to turn it off to stop the mis-printing before it empties the tray. That's to bad because I like it otherwise.

Toner looks spread out on the sheets of paper. It's a laser jet, but ink smears like an inkjet. It prints spotty. Not all words clear. Im not sure if this printer is defectives. I had the older model it worked wonderfully. I am going to contact HP support to see if they can fix this problem or figure out if its just a defective new printer. We do enjoy HP product. Not sure how to rate this particular model with the Star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How much ink is included? I bought the printer and it was easy to install from the perspectives of both hardware and software. That's all to the good. It came with an ink cartridge labeled 85A. It was not clear whether that was a full cartridge or a starter cartridge. I emailed the address listed and have been totally ignored. Clearly selling printers is like selling razors. You make money on the razor blades or ink cartridges and you pretty much give away the razor or printer at or below cost. So I rate the engineers highly on the quality of the product and the sales staff very low on their communication.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, BUT.... I ordered this product during the Labor day sale. I compared 3 of your printers to get what I wanted in a printer. It listed blue tooth printing in the specs. When it arrived it was NOT blue tooth compatible NOR did it have a cord to connect it to my laptop. I called tech support, but they just said it wasn't blue tooth not sure why specs said so. I could mail ot back and order something different- shipping on me!!! I kept it and bought the printer cord (cheaper than mailing back- plus I needed a printer ASAP) . It was a good price since on sale and if I purchased a different one, it would have been full price as sale was off. The printer works great but it is hardwired to my laptop (which travels with me) . Luckly I don't have to do anything but plug it in to use it.

I replace an older 6100 Ink Jet Series for more cost savings of no longer having to buy 4 color cartridges regularly and greater speed of printing. The only reason I am giving this a 4 and not a 5 is because it took 6 different transfers and well over an hour to find the right customer service support to help me set it up since I was confused as to why there is no USB cable in the box with this unit. That's like selling a car without a battery. It can't operate! I thought maybe it was wireless but no it isn't.. You need to provide your own USB cable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missing cable I took everything out of the box, the printer and electric cable, plugged it in, followed the instructions to set the printer up and realized there were no other cables in the box. There was an Ethernet cable missing and a USB cable missing. I had to used the USB cable from the printer I was replacing. Not a happy day.

Not capable as listed They just bunch all their printers into one category stating "Apple AirPrint™; Google Cloud Print™; HP ePrint; HP Smart App; Mobile Apps; Mopria™ Certified; ROAM capable for easy printing" & Print wirelessly even without the network; stay connected with dual band Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi direct. Print effortlessly from any device, virtually anywhere, to any HP printer—securely" through the cloud." Then all these ***. The model I got, M404n, was NOT easy to setup... mainly because it DOESN'T have Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi. I even had trouble when it was connected via HDMI to the PC. The PC app & the phone app were useless. Once I connected the Ethernet cable, it was a breeze. The instructions say NOTHING about having to be connected via Ethernet, nor does the APP. I just wanted a simple to setup printer for my elderly father that I could get in and out quick due to social distancing... but No, I was there an hour with no distancing and my mask on. The printer does work. I wonder how quickly I'll have to spend another $100 to replace the included "starter" toner. 3 stars just because I shouldn't have to second guess what capabilities the product has because I didn't read the fine print... If it did what it said then I'd give it better rating.

This printer fit my requirements just right. It can do wired and wireless. It is now a huge capacity, but it has a bigger tray than the 2035N which was a pleasant surprise.

Although it was claimed that you can connect wirelessly , the wireless connection doesn't work at all. HP even does not provide a UBS cable in the box to connect directly to a computer! The student does not have a car, and had to pay to print home work.

Very easy to set up although I had to get an Ethernet cord to get it connected to the internet. Prints fast and high quality. I LOVE that it has airprint so I can finally print from my iPhone! Great printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This HP printer is great for home or office use, since it prints a lot of pages quickly, in crisp, clear print quality. It would also work well for students, for the same reason. Very reliable. Set up was not completed and not a bulky machine . It's primarily designed for business use, and it exceeds expectations. This printer is compatible with multiple devices and operating systems, many versions of Windows, iOS, Android, etc. I quickly downloaded the HP Smart app, which prompted me to add the HP printer plugin. It searched for and found the printer already connected to the network. Then I was able to print right from my phone- printing from downloaded files, pictures, and from email. All of these showed great print quality. And it prints so quickly, there's no hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from issues with proper tray selection software trouble selecting the correct tray. we have an extra 550 tray for legal paper and the different programs constantly select the wrong tray and the printer does not function properly. would not recommend this printer. also purchased the high yield toner cartridge at over $225 and the cartridges get 3000 pages or less - very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from m404 PRINTER I was tiold by HP support that my P2035 printer was obsolete and I needed to purchase a new one. I did, My company tech support worked on connecting it for over 2 hours, they referred back to HP support, they worked on it for 2 hours and was not able to connect it either. Was told they would replace within a day. Wrong Wrong Wrong had to mail back and they said would probably be 5 to 7 days, I asked for a refund. This is third M404 I purchased and everyone has been a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Print Only! Disappointing - my workhorse of a HP127Mfn could not be upgraded to my expensive new computer. They sold me a new printer. Then when I needed to scan documents - well, can't do it on the new printer. Business docs these days have to be scanned and emailed and now I have to go to FedEx anyway to get this done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have not used very much, so not sure of rating to Putting it at a 4 star at present because I haven't used it much yet. Sometimes, the printer says it's offline, which prevents me from making prints. Lately, it's been working. If I see "printer offline" anymore, I'll plan to contact HP support to get their help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AirPrint in the wind AirPrint is a PITA. Can’t walk up and print. Have to go through some who-knows configuration including adventures in Google just to figure out how to get it to show up in AirPrint display.
