Rated 5 out of 5 by from does not wrok Bought two of these printers about 10 days ago. During that time Microsoft had a new update. After the update was installed the printer no longer worked. HP support worked remotely on our work computers and had to install a generic driver to get the printer to work. The printer now hangs up, does not print and requires a restart numerous times a day. We cannot print multiple copies of a document. HP support now tells me that it is a Microsoft problem and I should work with them. I would stay away from this printer until the issue gets resolved.

It is small enough to be used in an office but large enough to handle the capacity. I needed a printer that could not only print but also scan, copy and make double sided copies. This has fit the bill.

Worked for about a month then it started to go into sleep mode and not wake up when you sent a print job to it. Have to go into the utility SW to wake it up so print job prints and that is not 100%. Just a PIA printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never will buy from HP directly again. will never buy from HP again. Received the wrong printer (Warehouse Mistake) I had to take it myself to fedex to send it back. I was on phone forever to have someone send us the correct one. After a week not receiving the printer had to call to see what happened. They said they are out. Unbelivable that I did not even get an update email telling me that the printer not available. I had to call again spend a long time on phone to get credit back. What a waste of my time. My IT told me not to buy direct from HP I should have Listened.

You can only control the scanner function from the printer controls if you are using windows. MAC user as myself must control the printer scanner from the computer, Caveat 2. It will not print double sided with light card stick. Otherwise it is fine.

This Printer not only copies 40 sheets at a time it also uses Wi-Fi which I, love so much. I, enjoy using the touch-screen and fax machine as well. The trays are made sturdy for your copies to easily come threw. Overall this Printer is Awesome the Performance is Amazing.

The quality of prints is great, and it prints out the pages fast. This printer is lightweight and fits anywhere doesn't take up much space. I love that it is an all in one it scans, faxes, prints, and does copies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The opposite of productive. Impossible to connect. We bought this two months ago for our home office. There are five of us that use it. eight out of ten times when one of us tried to print something the computer will not connect wirelessly to the computer. This results in some one shouting for someone else to restart the printer, or someone having to reboot their laptop to connect to the printer. This piece of equipment is where our productivity has gone to die. An average first page takes 10 or 15 minutes to print on this printer. Only buy this if you plan to connect to it with a wire. It does make very nice quality prints and it is very fast once it starts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a nice paperweight I bought this a couple of months ago and after fighting to get it to function properly since then I'm ready to throw it in the dumpster. I'm not sure if it's the hardware or software or both that's at fault, but it simply can't handle any task greater than printing a few pages from a word doc in black and white. Literally anything more complicated than that takes half an hour of trial and error. Either the printer is "offline," or it can't detect the paper, or it can't feed the paper, or it feeds the paper and doesn't print, or it feeds the paper and prints and the ink is smeared all over, or the orientation is opposite of what I selected, or...well, you get the picture. Would I recommend this product to a friend? No, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

Enjoy the blue screen of death? Well, this model will serve you the bluest screen you've ever seen along with an error code with no meaning to be found in the wide world of the internet. Yessiree, HP has really outdone itself with this wonderful machine. The best part is that HP is of no help! So you will have the pleasure of throwing the machine directly into the dumpster after a year of use. You'll feel like you've wasted hours on an unsolvable puzzle at the end of each day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Single Checks will not Print! The speed and quality are good. The printer cannot print single checks. You will either have to throw them away or order a pack of forms leaders. I strongly suggest ordering the additional paper tray with 500 page capacity.

My luck, they were out of stock on it, and they suggest the HP Color Laser Pro MFP M479frw. It's a great printer love all the features - easy to hook up; within minutes, I was coping, scan, faxing. I learn something new every day with the machine. The service to replace it was professional from start to finish. I spend $200 on a printer and every 3 to 4 months I have to replace it. I can tell that this printer is made to last, and it handles two businesses. I do a lot of print, and its speed is good. No issues so far. THANK YOU, HP, for recommending this machine.

From opening the box to wireless setup to printing the first page was all of about five minutes. Maybe the MAC OS makes this easier? This replaces an old HP printer; so I missed seeing Sign in to my HP Smart Account in lieu of setting up a new account during setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice multifunction printer Very nice multifunction laser printer, I've had several in my office over the years. Most have been hp and last about 5 years with pretty much use. The only thing I don't like about this printer is the paper handling from the main tray. Things have to be put in upside down and facing away from the printer. This makes printing multiple checks in one batch a pain as you have to put your checks in the tray in reverse order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot connect to Windows Surface laptop I have had this for a while. I have spent countless hours try to connect this to my computer (Surface Pro) via wireless. Two computers cannot detect the printer. I can see on the printer it is connected to my home wireless network. I can use ePrint but that is about it. The drivers cannot be found online. I am really disappointed with HP for now providing adequate support for trouble shoot. I invested lot of money and do not want to buy. I even tried to update the firmware. I HP will tell me what I need to do or tell me where to go to get this fixed.

I absolutely despise that it uses a different toner cartridge than the outgoing model (M426) and the model that replaces the M428 will surely use yet another cartridge. It's a shady business tactic that HP has been enjoying for years.
