Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop for the price Love this laptop. So far it's been perfect for everything I've needed it for being a computer science student. My only regret is that I didn't go with the t14 instead of the t14s just because the t14s has soldered ram and no empty slots for upgrading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ewh Not thrilled, but some of the issue was my budget. I bought two for a client. I had to send one back because it locked up four times during setup. I returned that one. The other one was fine, but not speedy at all. Admittedly, it had 8GB of RAM. It also had an AMD Ryzen™ 5 Pro 4650U Processor (2.10 GHz, up to 4.00 GHz Max Boost, 6 Cores, 12 Threads, 8 MB Cache) . Normally I buy Intel i5 or i7 processors, so unsure how much of the lack of speed had to do with RAM or the processor. Anyways, next time I will spend more for better performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible - AMD Version of Thinkpad ISN'T How can corporate business use this?? No Numeric Keypad, NO ethernet port, oh yeah you can buy a $30 ethernet adapter? What is this 1992? Wow so Frustrating. The Intel ThinkPads cost way more and are SLOWER. So it seems Intel is paying Lenovo so it won't make a real T-Series AMD business laptop. So Frustrating to wait for this only to find it has major "need to have" features missing. No ethernet port? Are you kidding?

I would highly recommend this product for all usage. I was given one for my other job and that is why I went with the same product. I needed a 2nd one for my 2nd job and it works fantastic. Highly recommend this product. Very compact and great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be careful I bought this. And returned it. Text too small - just couldn't get it so I could see it. Now have opted for the T15 - which is what I currently have (well, not exactly - have a older T520i) - easy to see/read. Also, I am a Linux user, so installed Linux, and the AMD drivers are not there - the graphics rendering was horrible. Had my son, a Linux Mint maintainer (Cinnamon desktop), and he installed the drivers separately from AMD site; never could get them working properly. So, requested a return. In order to return, thought I should restore to original state and tried to install Windows 10 from USB. Well....Win installer couldn't find any working media drivers and would not install. So, just ship back with Linux still installed. Sorry. I am guessing somehow, Lenovo installs those drivers during prep. So, very disappointed. No more AMD Ryzen machines for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breath of fresh air coming from a macbook Light, fast, runs cool, runs Linux with no issues, including docking with the ThinkPad USB-C dock. Only minor gripe would be lack of dedicated media keys, but some key remapping took care of that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the little things that count I had an old Thinkpad that worked great for 6 years until I started telecommuting during the pandemic, and the extreme extra use eventually just wore it out. I loved it so much that I didn't think twice about getting another Thinkpad. I prefer a small size but one that is not a tablet, and this model sure fits that. It's fast, it lets me telecommute to my job, and all around works as you need a computer to. It's very sturdy and has been dropped/bumped/chewed (lots of pets) without any ill-effects. But the more I use it, the more I realize that it's the little things that make or break an experience, and, well, lots of little breaks here... Screen: I got the battery saver screen. It's astonishingly dark, although it does measurably improve battery life. May or may not be a good trade-off for you. At 100% brightness, it is okay indoors. I don't think I would be able to use it outdoors, and anything less than 95% is a challenge, even in a dark room. Keyboard: A little stiffer than my previous model, takes a little more force to type. It's still pretty good as keyboards go. Trackpad: It's fine. I've used worse. It's "sticky" in the sense that if you tap with your finger to click, the computer instead thinks you're trying to drag things around. Very frustrating as I prefer to tap than to click, so I'm constantly detaching tabs or shifting Excel cells on accident. Two-finger scrolling seems to not work about 10% of the time, and I can't tell why. Usually switching to using the arrow keys and then back to two-finger scrolling fixes it, but it's an annoying interruption. Fingerprint reader: Works about 30% of the time, regardless of how often I rescan my fingers or which fingers I use. It's so fun and convenient when it works, but often takes longer than just typing in a password since it rarely reads my print correctly. Heat: Yes, this laptop gets so hot, scorchingly hot. I use it on a desk, so it doesn't burn me, but it does make me wonder if someday the heat will damage the computer. Case: As other reviewers have mentioned, the case has sharp edges, which can be uncomfortable when resting your hands against it. Even worse, the case doesn't fit perfectly. It bulges and gaps in some places. You can feel it shift and squeak if you put even the tiniest bit of weight around the edges. This seems like such a shallow complaint but it is honestly so grating. Wireless: Mine came with cellular wireless, which is a nice perk, but not one I'm likely to use. The regular wireless adapter has serious issues. About every 2 or 3 days it will begin to intermittently drop internet connections. The only way to fix it is to uninstall and reinstall the adapter. Constantly. It only takes 2 minutes each time, but how hard is it to make a laptop that can stay connected to wireless internet? My desk isn't in a location where I can hard wire it to the internet, so reinstalling the wireless adapter is practically a daily chore. Charging port: The charging port is really small and the connector is tiny, thin, and delicate. Every time it makes a weird noise as I plug it in, I'm certain I've bent/broken it. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm pretty sure it will sometime in the future, and I will have to take it in for repairs. My last Thinkpad had such a chunky charging port that I could just jam it in without looking. This charger I have to baby so delicately, and even then it makes nerve-wracking scraping sounds. I'm sure there are other pet peeves that I'm forgetting, because all of the issues are so small. But they add up to make using this laptop a mediocre experience at best. This could be such a good laptop because it really is fast, lightweight/small size, and plenty sturdy, but all of these day-to-day usability issues sometimes make me want to cry. I can't in good conscience recommend this. Sadly I'm stuck with it since I need it for work, so maybe I'll "get used to it."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome , died in 2 weeks The Ryzen 4750U version runs my design software well for being so portable and battery life is solid. However, 2 weeks in, maybe 10 uses, got a black screen and odd beeping. Lenovo is taking it back for repair. Out my work laptop for weeks .... they should exchange it for a new one when it’s dies this early into owning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best working laptop on the market (Feb 2021) The laptop has an amazingly robust construction that is a pleasure to work on: spacious palm rest, rigid screen hinges, solid case and wonderful keyboard + trackpad (yes, it is large and precise enough, Apple users). The battery under Ubuntu (I have a dual boot) lasts 8+ hours and the low power screen helps in this regard. The latest AMD processor screams and having 16 threads is a must for my work. While at peak, the fans are merely audible. All in all, this is the best working laptop now on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent build quality and battery life Bought this to replace a well used X200 (ThinkPads are built to last!. Build quality is phenomenal. Keyboard is a joy to use. Screen is good - certainly not the best, but still bright with excellent contrast (400nit option). The Ryzen 7 APU is plenty powerful for running VMs and other workloads and the iGPU can handle some light gaming when it's time to play - GTAV at 1080p medium gets 40-50FPS. Battery life is great for an 8-core CPU, I get 6 to 7 hours in everyday use. Some online reviews complain it runs uncomfortably hot, I have not experienced this. One downside: soldered RAM. Max it out when you buy it because there is no upgrading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with this powerful and portable laptop I am a computer engineer and work with integration and business process servers, which need a high performance CPU and RAM. My work, forces me to move continuously to different cities, I spent a lot of time looking for the laptop could meet my needs (a terminal as powerful and portable as possible). The T14S I bought has everything I need, AMD Ryzen 7 PRO (4750U), 32 GB, a weight of 1,250gr and a battery of about 8 real hours (with a demanding average use of the terminal). Also, it has many other details that are not found along with the first in other laptops, touch screen, 500 nits screen with electronic privacy filter, fingerprint reader, camera concealment (no need to put "cap").

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely useful and great value Very good build quality - 14 inch screen is the best balance between portability and useability (imo), and the device is surprisingly lightweight despite having good performance. Didn't expect the magnesium frame but that's very nice. Great AMD CPU. We need more of this. The laptop does heat up significantly but it doesn't bother me. Great screen - if you buy a custom build you can get a 400 nits screen, which is above average in brightness. For the price tag, it's as good as you can get. The only thing that would make this laptop perfect is the following: - Expandable ram (not an issue if you max out the ram on purchase (32 GB), but having some choice is always good) - Thunderbolt support. It has a great variety of ports (HDMI, USB 3, display port) but thunderbolt is not one - Better cooling AMD is the reason for points 2 and 3 above, but the outstanding CPU more than makes up for it. Also runs Linux flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad workmanship for new ThinkPad T14S. I am very disappointed with my new laptop. This is my 4th ThinkPad and i never had any problems before but with this PC the brightness disappear and the USB ports don't work after it comes back from sleep. I have to power cycle the device to be able to use all the functions. I been loyal to Lenovo for the last 10 years but now I am taking my business somewhere else

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong speedy laptop This is a fast lightweight laptop that has a classic feel. I purchased the T14s because of the strong chassis and it was much lighter than I expected. The camera is okay for teleconferencing in a high direct-light environment, but is less than ideal in diffuse light. I had some issues after updating to Windows 11 where I had a BSoD after the computer came out of sleep, but it was easily fixed with a BIOS update using the Lenovo Vantage app - great customer service. Benchmark values are near the median for all components.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best Lenovo yet I have owned Lenovo laptops for the last 25 years - have dragged them through rural Africa and New Guinea with never a problem, so I am a loyal customer prepared to pay a little more for dependability. My T470 is now five years old, has never let me down, but was due for replacement, and this opportunity came along. As a non-IT person, I could see from the write-ups that there were many changes in the T14s, but really had no idea what those were until I fired it up and seamlessly transferred files from the old laptop. The T14 is intuitive, lightning fast, and simply a joy to work with. Highly recommended.

I’m slowly getting used to the Windows 10, but love the quality I’m used to with Lenovo. At first I was disappointed with the small 256 drive, but added a 512 micro SD card for my iTunes library. The laptop was already set up with the software I purchased and ran me through a tutorial to set up my Microsoft Account. The ThinkPad is very responsive and more than meets my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the laptop for professionals! This is a great laptop! I am using it for work at a new position and this laptop is very quick, responsive, and boots up immediately. I have never used a Lenovo product before, but any purchases in the future will definitely be Lenovo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds expectations! I purchased this laptop as a Christmas gift for my middle schooler, and it has exceeded expectations! The primary goal was schoolwork, but he's had a seamless gaming experience playing online with friends as well as by himself. It was simple enough to set up that he did everything himself, with no intervention. It's lightening fast and extremely lightweight, so he'll be able to carry it with him when he finally returns to in-person school. AMD processor and graphics are top-notch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great mobile workstation for developers This is the first Windows laptop that I've used for many years and I'm quite happy with it overall. It's much lighter than I anticipated, so it's easy to travel with and it can crunch through code just fine. I have it hooked up to a dock and monitor and it has worked great as a mobile workstation. Heat and noise haven't been an issue. In terms of build quality, the materials aren't premium quality like the non-Windows competitor, but they are good and it doesn't feel like it was built cheaply. The two minor complaints that I have include its mediocre camera and sound quality, but it wouldn't influence my purchase decision in hindsight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What happened to ThinkPad quality? This ThinkPad cannot wake from sleep - all the programs open are closed when it resumes and have to be restored. This device never should have left the factory. Post-sales service experience is clunky to access. AND they're still holding the package unopened, "due to COVID," when you send it back to the depot, so that it will take at least 2 weeks before you get it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid laptop This is a very solid, high performance laptop. I am very impressed by the performance from the AMD Ryzen 7 processor. Everything runs very smoothly and launching any MS Office app is almost instantaneous. The laptop looks slim and elegant and it is also light weight. It's very solid built. This has the best-in-class keyboard and I love typing on it. The only issue so far was with the Windows 10 Modern Standby (S0) which doesn't seem to well with this laptop, but I guess this issue is more on Windows 10 side rather than the laptops itself. Overall, I am very satisfied with Lenovo T14s (AMD) laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is FAST! I can't believe what a night and day difference there is between the performance of this AMD, 8-core machine, with 32 GB of RAM and a dedicated GPU, and the past 3 maxed out X1 Carbons I've owned. I am a power user and have learned that I regularly use over 20GB of RAM.....which was not possible on any X1 Carbon I owned. The honeymood period was always short-lived with these Carbons as my computer quickly became slow and frustrating to use. On month 2 with this laptop now, have 6 virtual machines installed, use them regularly, and throw all kinds of other things at this laptop and it remains faster than any laptop I've ever used before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Some minor software glitches though I love the laptop and overall hardware and build of it. However, there has been a few slight problems when I upgraded to Windows 11. For example, every now and then the brightness control buttons will not work and I'll have to restart my laptop to get them to work. Additionally, sometimes the fingerprint reader won't work and I'll have to restart for that as well. I'm hoping this minor glitches go away soon. Other than that, great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute satisfaction I upgraded my laptop after around 4 years and I think, Thinkpad is the best choice for an upgrade. I am a graduate student who also performs small computations on laptop using Matlab, Fortran. I also frequently use a lot of applications like zoom, powerpoint, lots of documents and tabs together and as of now, there has been no issue with the laptop. The product was also delivered on time. I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Little Laptop I got this this laptop to be a low-key workhorse and so far it delivers. The CPU benchmark is very high, and it has other specs that also compares higher-end laptops. It's fast, and the keyboard deserves it's good reputation. I'd prefer a little less bevel around the screen and a smaller charger, but overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent build quality and battery life I'm very impressed with the battery life so far, I easily get 6+ hours working with on documents/spreadsheets and browsing. The keyboard feels great to type on, and the 400-nit display looks crisp even in fairly bright light. The overall build quality feels very good too. Just wish it wasn't soldered RAM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing as always, couldn't wait for the Gen 2 I've had a couple older ThinkPads and they've all lasted a long time, and seemed to stay relevant just as long. This one is no exception, especially with the decision to go with AMD. From the look of a laptop that does real work to the sense of productivity I get when I use it, I honestly recommend ThinkPads to all my friends and family looking for new laptops. Thanks to everyone at Lenovo for yet another great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An almost perfect laptop One of the best laptops I ever used. Really good form-factor, pleasantly surprising performance and battery life, bright screen, phenomenal keyboard... What else would you want from a laptop? 2 things, turns out: 1. Thunderbolt or USB 4. 2. 16:10 screen. I think 1 is being addressed in the next generation. As for 2, we'll have to wait a little longer. The wait is comfortable though, I really enjoy using this laptop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but not best bang for your buck Not bad. If I had to buy for my personal use, I would go with the Thinkbook 14 AMD, which has better specs at a better price. The Thinkpad T14s just feel a little more professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of potential ends in mediocrity 7/10, good but not great. Great to use, but even a $250 Ideapad I used temporarily was a huge improvement over what I had before. Some fairly big issues, though nothing critical, & a bunch of small things, all add up to make what could have been a great computer disappointing. I like it, but I don't love it & it could be much better with a bit more thought & care. BIOS: - Brightness maxed & can't be adjusted (same for live-boot environments) so it's blindingly bright (& white, they could have at least made it dark themed) & drains the battery more - TrackPoint scrolling doesn't work - ~80% of the time, clicking arrows to expand/collapse descriptions double-clicks them, so you have to try several times to get it to open/close & stay - Confusing & can't get boot password working right - Should have option to show "if found" message on boot Case Design, Ports, & Display: + Hinge stiff, stable in use, but easy to open though could be a bit less stiff (barely opens one-handed) + Red light on lid is neat, though it'd be nice if it used different colors for different states &/or battery levels, & I don't like it being on during use & wonder how much extra battery it's using (likely insignificant, but still) + Bright display (typically use steps 2-3/11, 1 in the dark), great colors, & matte finish + Camera shutter (& manual!) + Excellent build, good, balanced weight, nice feel, small - Bezels/computer could be smaller - Display should get dimmer & shouldn't have such a BIG jump from step 1 to 2 & brightness drifts sometimes - Display lottery - Front edge of rest is uncomfortable/pointed & should be rounded - USB-C/charging both on one side, especially bad considering... - No barrel plug port, understandable but it's nice to have the option for using a right-angle plug, whereas the USB chargers stick straight out & risk damage to the charger (which would mean replacing the expensive brick since the fragile USB cord is hardwired) & the port - SD reader position isn't ideal, but requiring a tool to remove it is just bad - Could be easier to open - Supposedly an M.2 NVMe drive can be used in the WWAN slot, but the one it came with wouldn't even physically fit as the key is slightly off - Ryzen sticker corners kept snagging so I had to remove it, which was a pain due to the adhesive, & it should've been rounded, placed elsewhere, or included separately - Ports are close together, not enough to typically interfere but can be difficult to unplug items = Silk-screen printed markings along the keyboard deck edge showing port type & locations would be nice = Should have "if found" info card that slides into chassis (would barely require any space; card reader slot would be perfect for this) Keyboard/TrackPoint/Trackpad: + Nice tactile & typing feel & quiet (some keys are a bit "loud" but still pretty quiet) + Good layout: Fn key grouping; Individual Home/End/PgUp/PgDn; Large delete key in proper place (no power button there) + Hardware FnLock (can switch with key combo vs having to use Vantage) + TrackPoint drift slightly improved - Trackpad not as physically smooth as many others, including $250 IdeaPad, & not as sensitive yet has poor palm rejection - Stupid placement of Fn & left Ctrl keys, & when swapped to be like EVERY OTHER KEYBOARD the "Ctrl" key is much smaller, affecting its use in touch-typing, & the swapped labels causes confusion - Inconsistency of Fn keys between models - Backlight bleeds a lot under keys & excess brightness can be distracting & can overwhelm the actual letters, etc, plus the lower brightness is still much brighter than it needs to be & often too bright & an excessive battery drain (should be like the light for the mic status) - Backlight often turns off right after turning it on & sometimes turns on at full brightness, making you turn it off & back on to get it to low, & turns off when locking computer but not on again when unlocking, even shortly after - Mic Fn key light is on when mic is off which is backwards & annoying since the mic is always off & can't be switched in Vantage - Fn key works at the hardware level, so can't use it for additional shortcuts, & this could easily be done if they had it send a keypress to the OS - Fingerprint reader works poorly despite registering fingers multiple times & should be lit - Clicks often don't register even when hearing button click - Middle trackpad button no longer works for both scrolling & middle-clicking, a major downgrade for no apparent reason, & requires 3rd-party software to fix - TrackPoint & pad often become *extremely* laggy & jump around for a while after waking computer, have completely stopped working until locking/unlocking computer, & multiple times one day stopped moving until I let off the stick then started moving it again, so new drivers not only less functional but very buggy - Too many TrackPoint & keyboard issues when those are the main selling point of ThinkPads = Arrow keys are better than most, but lower three are still smaller & I hit the wrong keys, especially PgUp/PgDn instead of left/right Installed software: + Minimal bloat, even less than MS's own image (no Candy Crush, etc) = Vantage has some nice features but is needs improvement & is ADWARE = Indicator light on caps key but no OSD, which is useful for touch-typing, though there's one for most other things, which is silly when there's even one for the keyboard backlight, which is far less useful since the backlight is much more noticeable Performance, Audio, Noise, Cooling, & Battery Life: + Haven't pushed it yet, but mostly very fast & doesn't slow down with quite a bit going on, though does occasionally get pretty laggy (unsure if it's the computer or Windows) + Tested iGPU with Borderlands 1 maxed out, was very smooth though possibly some mild screen tearing + Very good sound for a laptop, especially such a small one, plenty loud & clear (I can listen to music across the house, up/down stairs & around corners & down hallways) with no noticeable distortion + Charges quickly - Was only able to get 16GB of *soldered* RAM, which really isn't enough - Fairly quiet overall & even when fan runs it's more the sound of moving air than the fan, but emits various strange & somewhat annoying sounds, especially at low speeds, e.g. a scratching similar to HDD heads moving, a chirping, what sounds like bad fan bearings (like a quiet version of a card in bike spokes), etc - Cooling is mixed, decent overall, often mid-40s to 50s with no little to no fan but fairly regularly gets up to 60s & 70s causing the fan to run even when not doing much, yet only got to high 60s during a Prime95 run on the same (balanced) power mode & 80 on max performance (which oddly suddenly throttled & dropped to ~60 after a while for a few minutes before ramping back up & going back to ~80, & seemed to throttle every time, & only when, I picked it up), hasn't become hot to touch--just slightly warm on right side of the keyboard & bottom center-back--so the cooling system seems good but needs tuning, the fan quality may not be great, & throttles when picked up - Battery life mixed, as the first time, with very light use, it was looking like 12-14+ hours, but that quickly dropped to ~9 hours & now ~6.5-7, still with very light use & low display brightness (though oddly neither turning it up nor using airplane mode seem have an effect), which is terrible & prevents leaving home without the charger for even a day, & in a normal day if I run off battery, I have to charge after a while, then can run on battery again but eventually have to charge *again* in the same day (charging to 80%); like my last ThinkPad, which also got nowhere near its rated life even with an extra slice battery Purchasing Process - I won't go into full detail on how terrible ordering from Lenovo is, as that would take pages. They're easily one of the worst companies I've dealt with & I wasted HOURS trying to buy from them. I made THREE attempts Black Friday weekend of 2019, all canceled within hours, & the reps were completely useless. I made multiple attempts in 2020, first for the T14 mid-Nov, but it kept declining payment & the bank said Lenovo wasn't even attempting to process it. After hours on chat & phone, again with useless reps & one who was downright unprofessional, I finally gave up. I tried once more for this on BF weekend due to the prices (I paid less for it than the T14, & I prefer it over that, so there's that at least), & still ran into the payment declined problem. I finally tried disabling my VPN & then it worked, though it shouldn't have mattered & it would have been nice if their system or reps had been able to tell me that, & searching about the issue, I found it's fairly common, yet they're too incompetent &/or apathetic to fix it. I can only hope I never need warranty service, as I can't imagine what a nightmare that would be. Bottom line, this feels both well-designed & half-baked at the same time. Lenovo has definitely declined. The only things Lenovos have over others & the ONLY reasons I even consider them are the TrackPoint &, to a lesser extent, the keyboard. If not for those, I wouldn't even look at them, which makes the terrible implementation here even more ridiculous, & at this point I doubt I'll bother with another one. Because of that, & since many people don't appreciate, or even like, the TrackPoint, & this trackpad is mediocre, I'd actually recommend that most people avoid it. For those that don't specifically want a TrackPoint &/or that the trackpad is important to them, get something else. And Lenovo, way to go labeling this box with a character minimum but not maximum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMD 4000 Nails It I got a T14s with amd 4750u cpu and this thing flies. Very thin and light, the material and keyboard feels wonderful to the touch, and the laptop only gets a little warm when browsing or streaming videos on the lap. When plugged in you can feel some heat from the keyboard near the upper/center-right keys. Battery life has been around 8.5-9.5 hours with light use, but I haven't exactly pushed it to its limit. My only wish is for more Thinkpads to come with AMD processors, and for the return of 16:10 displays. The 400 nit low power display is nice, even the AUO display I got (I don't game on this so don't care much about response time), however 16:9 does not pair as well for productivity as 16:10.

At first, I was pleased but after almost 2 months it's been nothing but trouble with the main issue being Bluetooth. It keeps dropping it! Unfortunately for me, I didn't utilize any Bluetooth the first month I had it because if I had found the problem earlier I would have returned it. Such potential....then reality set it. Very disappointed in this machine and left Mac for this?
